Appetizers...
On May 25, 1990,
Kidlink was
born. Founders were Odd de Presno
, Nancy Stefanik
, and Knut Braatane
. The photo shows Nancy
and Odd typing invitations to kids on their computers. (Read more about

Our first
birthday party, in 1991, was great fun. Krystal (right) used her
"chat machine" in Canada .
She was the first kid to answer the
4 questions. We used
videophones
to send voice messages and images world-wide
(technical
info), and fax to send drawings, messages, and letters. We had a 4-hour
multi-point videoconference between kids in Toronto
, Washington DC
, Helsinki
, London
, Glasgow
, and Arendal
. |
 |
There was also a competition called "The Creative
Challenge". Janis Petraskevics (right) from Latvia
was one of the winners
with his musical composition for flute and piano called
"The
Silent Song". |
 |
| In 1992, we also used amateur radio. 3,100 kids joined the two day birthday
party. Click for
photos, and at the
map to see where those participating in the 1995 Birthday Party lived. Here's

| Thu, 29 Apr 2004:
For the Kidlink\'s 14th anniversary I wish to you all the best in the
world.
The fact that I discover you was a big step ahead for me and my little
country.
I like to draw and I hope that my drawings are helpfully for the site.
I wish you to have many, many anniversaries!
Sincerely yours,
Diana
