Motivating Students To Answer Better |
| Hi Odd,
Thank you for your kind words. I am glad that the quality of the answers to the last two questions has been improving. I only see the children 40 minutes each week, and often that is not enough time for the younger students to answer the four questions properly if they have to come up with answers while they are trying to type them in. Therefore, I print out the registration form and give them to the children to complete at home. This way they only have to copy what they wrote when they register. We do spend time discussing the questions in preparation for completing the form. I have some sample answers that were rejected from previous students. We talk about why those particular responses were unacceptable. We brainstorm about what things an 8 year old could realistically accomplish and that would still have an impact upon the world. Overall, it is a good experience for the children because they come away with the feeling that even as children they can make a difference and have the power to influence the world. The four questions are a very good way to get children to think in new directions. Hugs, Joy > Hi Joy! > It is always a pleasure to approve your kids' registrations. I feel there has been a process, and that the average quality of answer to the two last questions are increasing. > How do you do it? What are your experiences? > Hugs, > Odd
