Motive

Art by Kousuke Yamamoto (10), Japan

Does your kid know and talk to one 8th grade teacher's kids in Cuiaba, on the edge of that mysterious wonder of the Mato Grosso wetland a thousand miles into the interior of Brazil? South of the Equator about 1,200 miles just west of Longitude 55 degrees and a bit south of Latitude 15 degrees. A very long way from anywhere.

Does your kid know about the other kid's life? About what's happening in school? About what the Mato Grosso is like? About that other kid's dreams for the future? His triumphs? His disappointments? Do they share what they want the world to be like when they grow up? Does he talk to the other kid about grandpas and grandmas and what they learn from them?

It's possible. A large number of kids from over 130 countries have done this. Their world is a crisscross network of email imaginary lines reaching out all over the world to exchange thoughts, dreams, ambitions and the routine of their everyday life.

Learning how to communicate with each other so they won't be hesitant strangers when they meet on an airplane, at the bargaining table, closing a business sale or perhaps even across from each other at the United Nations. So they won't be judging, because they already know each other. Knowing how the other thinks and how great it is that they think so much alike. No matter if one wears a sombrero and the other a derby. It's what is underneath that counts. They have learned the underneath of each other and they know that's what is important. Not appearances. - Getting to know you is what it is all about. Kidlink does that.
