How do I invite people to chat? See Inviting kids to chats in My Future Job or Making Our World Better rooms "i came to this website to discuss with other kids but it won't let me!!! WHY :( " You need a Kidlink nickname and password to chat at our site. Sign up as a member here. When you have received your new nickname and password , you can enter KidCom. You will not be able to enter KidCom while you are waiting to be approved. User name and password does not work when trying to enter KidCom or do other things You must have received a user name (we call it nickname) and password from Kidlink. Make sure that you type your nickname and password correctly. For example, if you have selected the word "Nosmoke" as password, you will not be able to log in using "nosmok". Type the words exactly as they appear in the mail from us. How do you know where the room is? Immediately after having logged into KidCom, you will get a list of available rooms. Click on a room to join. "I used your site, I forgot I can't say bloody and I got banned, what now?" Teacher and parents will not let their kids use our chat if it is filled by bad words, so our system is set to ban those who do. If you send us a note saying you are sorry and promise not to do it again, we might give you a second chance. We work very hard to keep Kidlink safe: In most KidCom rooms. adults cannot "talk" with kids, nor can they send you KidMail. Some rooms are for kids and adults with a good reason to be there. "I want meet kids" is not a good reason. Most of those you may meet will be either teachers or Kidlink volunteers. When adults click at your nickname, they will not get information about your e-mail address, the place where you live, your last name, and other information that may be used to find out who you are. Kidlink moderators monitor all that is said in KidCom rooms to make sure it is safe. This is what you can do to help: Don't share your password. Be sure your parents/teachers know you are participating in Kidlink Let us know if you notice something unusual. Who monitors the KidCom rooms? Our KidCom rooms are monitored by adult members of the Kidlink Team I want to join a discussion on Thursday, but cannot make it. What can I do? In KidCom, all discussions are recorded. Therefore, you can go into a room before a meeting, and tell people what you think. Also, you can go there after the meeting and make the discussion continue. I missed a chat. Is there a way to continue the discussion afterwards? In KidCom, full discussion history is kept and easily available. You are free to continue the discussion any time. How can I log (record) a chat? Not needed. A record of all discussions is automatically made. How do I find in what rooms others are? Click the "Who is where?" button on the KidCom opening screen, or in the various rooms. How do I talk with the other kids? Chatting is really easy. First, login, then choose a room. When you are in a room, type your messages into the box and press enter. If you want to see if anyone is online, go to the button that says 'who is where?' and it will say who is online, and in what room. If you want to have a private conversation, click on the icon next to their name, but make sure your pop-up blocker is off, or you wont be able to get it. How do I talk with others using IM?
