Interpreting Kidlink's Age Rule

Kidlink is "open for all youth through the secondary school level." Students may participate as part of a class, regardless of age. When the students register, they must provide their teacher' Kidlink nickname.

For participation from home, our rule is 15 years of age or younger. Most Kidlink's users are younger than 16.

At the lower end of the age line, it is not a matter of whether the child can read or write - a blind child may be very late in learning to read and it is certainly reasonable for parents or teachers to type what they say as their answers. What is important is that the child is able to understand the questions and give meaningful answers to them. In our experience, most kids reach this point at age five or six.
