Language Arts/Writing/Reading
  1. Writing a self-presentation
  2. Writing essays, short stories to express their ideas and feelings
  3. Researching newspapers and magazines to find out what professional options exist.
  4. Comparing and contrasting ideas from several sources
  5. Conducting interviews
  6. Using appropriate vocabulary to ensure a clear presentation of text
  7. Using the steps within the writing process
  8. Develop comprehension and analysis when reading questions and stories.
  9. Learn characteristics of description and self portrait as a form of expression

English Language

  1. Reading skills

  2. Acquire knowledge about daily life, school, hobbies, leasure activities of children in English language countries (multicultural skills).

Other Languages

  1. Practising grammar and syntax in a real world situation

Math

  1. Using tables and spreadsheets to analyze data. (Example 1, Example 2, Example 3)
  2. Classifying information into categories. Example , Example
  3. Using graphic organizers for comparing and contrasting information
  4. Creating timelines and setting goals
  5. Calculating basic mathematical operations
  6. Learn geography, maps, cultural diversities in the world, history.

Life Skills

  1. Self-awareness; understanding own needs & desires; increasing self-esteem and self-responsibility.

  2. Make informed choices (decision making skills; goal setting.)

  3. Critical thinking

  4. Reflection (thinking back on beliefs or motives)

Social Studies

  1. Learn about cultural diversities in the world through the personal description of the students.
  2. Collecting information and learning about different career plans and concerns students in different countries have.
  3. Learning about professions and job opportunities in other countries
  4. Describing one's own career plans.
  5. Make personal timelines to position important life events.
  6. Promoting interviews with adults having desired future professions through Kidspace or other interactive tools
  7. Using maps to locate countries
  8. Working and negotiating in cooperative groups.
  9. Understanding multiple perspectives among diverse cultures

Science

  1. Applying information for problem solving

Technology

  1. Use the computer as a learning tool for writing, communicating with others on real-time, making research and constructing web pages. You may also use the questions as a resource for teaching how to use Word, Power Point, etc.
  2. Locating a web site using searching skills, searching the Kidlink student registration archives. Example
  3. Accessing and utilizing E-mail
  4. Learn to use computer drawing programs to make pictures related to the registration questions
  5. Use scanner or digital photos to add photos and drawings
  6. Learn how to use email programs and lists to communicate with other participants.

Public speaking

  1. Communicating results of research
  2. Planning, promoting and describing ambitions and plans.
  3. Justifying and defending opinions

Art and Drama

  1. Music, dancing to express their feelings.
  2. Make posters that reflect personalities of each member of the group.
  3. Use varied techniques like acrylic, water color, collage to draw themselves and their vision of the world.
  4. Use computer programs to draw their visions of the world and of themselves.
  5. Build puppets with their own physical traits.
  6. Supported in music and dance, express their feelings in other ways.
  7. Perform to the class, using no words, the profession or activity for "What I want to be". Mimic game. Other students have to discover.
  8. "Join" the professions that have links, activities in common and prepare a performance. For example: One student wants to be a choreographer and other students want to be ballet dancers. How do they work together?

Library Science

  1. Searching for information using printed and electronic media
  2. Evaluating reliability of information
  3. Gathering ideas from human sources - peers around the world and grown ups in their own area
