My Future Job Process Overview To be meaningful, contents must focus on the specific jobs the individual student is interested in. To be relevant and updated, students will be challenged to build contents while building their future.

| My
Future Job
guides students from curiosity about a possible future job, through study
of other students' future dreams, towards sharing, and collaboration with
peers. At each step, students are challenged to act.
First , let your students register. Challenge them to enter a desired job by "What Do I Want To Be When I Grow Up?" even if they are not sure yet what they want to be. They can change it later. Changes are logged so that they can study how their dreams change over time. Their dream is published for everybody to see through a personal "student home page," called a KidPage. Next, let them study what other students want to be. If the study makes them want to change or deepen career dreams, let them update their KidPages accordingly. Also, challenge them to post their revised dream on a desired My Future Job page. Example: Those wanting to become a teacher, may type their dream to be posted in the yellow form at the bottom of the home page for teachers. At the top of all career track start pages, there is a "Next step" link. Example: "Next step: What can I do to become a teacher?". Let them study what other students think is needed, and links to external web resources for this profession. Challenge them to visit other web sites that might provide useful information about how to get this future job. After the study, challenge them to tell what they think is needed in the form at the bottom of the "Next step" page. Let them contact others with the same career dream by KidMail, and invite to discussions in the KidCom room for their career at an agreed time. Let them organize discussions about career-related agendas.
