Annual Plan 2014

Annual Plan 2014

Kidlink Association
Established 2013/12/30

AofA Art 5 says:

"The Board's Annual Report and Financial Statement must be sent to the members together with the notice to the Annual Meeting." The Document, once approved by the Annual Meeting 2013 will be made public from the Kidlink Association main page at http://www.kidlink.org/drupal/AM-2013.

Many issues from the Annual Plan 2013 have been copied to the Annual Plan 2014 as these have not been accomplished.

Kidlink Association Financial Plan 2014

  • The Kidlink Association Financial Plan 2014 has been written at the end of the Financial Statement 2013.

Board Meetings

  • The Board have meetings every months starting the first Saturday in asynchronous mode and ending the second Saturday in Skype Board chat.
  • The Board will continue its dialog in the private Board group in Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/ka.board.

Kidlink Association Membership and Sponsorship

  • Further efforts must be made to get more members to the Kidlink Association and to get more donations. We must make it is easier to find out how to pay for membership and to do donations.
  • A working Kidlink Project depends on the support of paying members. We must inform that membership does not mean time consuming meetings. Members are allowed to participate in the Annual meeting but do not need to do so.

Kidlink volunteers

  • We need more Kidlink volunteers.  Several of us are 50+ so we need more young teachers volunteering in Kidlink. One important way to get more volunteers, is to get more teachers involved in our projects. Engaged participants may be more positive helping out with volunteership.
  • We need young students volunteering in Kidlink.

Kidlink Dialog and Documentation

  • We will continue our teacher dialog in https://www.facebook.com/KidlinkProject as many teachers appreciate this group as a forum
  • We have a Twitter account. The use of it, will be improved.
  • We did not succeed to move our Google group dialog to our Drupal Forum. We want to get the Drupal forum working during 2014. An email alert system must be enabled so we get alerted when someone writes in the forum.
  • We will continue our efforts with our video project on http://www.youtube.com/user/KidlinkProject
  • We will continue to keep the Kidlink dialog active in Italian, Russian and Catalan in Facebook. We  will also support new language areas in Facebook where  teachers can meet and plan projects in their native language.

The Kidlink Site and site visibility online.

  • We will try to create easy links for our users. Addresses like http://www.kidlink.org/kidspace/start.php?HoldNode=27308 are not easy to share. Twitter links like http://bit.ly/V10rrQ  http://t.co/2bS1mcBt may be an option.
  • We need to get Kidlink more visible on search engines. We must strive to get Kidlink on the first page for important keywords. It is important to use frequently used keywords like e.g. "global projects", "school projects" in our pages.
  • We are working on a new Kidspace with a object oriented php that will among others, allow among others specific title and description meta tags, unique for every node.
  • We will have a "Responsive design" for Kidlink sites in 2014. This will make Kidlink more easy to read, whatever tool (computer, Ipad, phone etc) the visitors are using.
  • We must make it easier to navigate Managent and Kidspace. Kidspace is confusing and difficult to navigate. ICollaboratory has a good project information structure and layout. We will look at it and improve our Management pages. Also Kidspace must be reshaped so it will become easier to find the students work.

Privacy and Security

  • Our server has been subject to fewer attacks during 2013. We have so far not had any damage on our activity. Even if Stellan, the chairman, is able to manage the server and the scripts and has succesfully solved problems so far, his knowledge of server security is limited. With only one programmer and server manager, Kidlink is very vulnerable. We need to find a system coadministrator working as volunteer for Kidlink.
  • We must continue to update and develop the defence of our system.
  • With the new Kidspace registration and login system, it will be still more difficult for intruders to hack our system.

Registration and login

  • Kidlink will get a simpler login system. Adults will login our management system and authomatically get logged in to all our services, Kidspace included. Students will continue to have different login pages: one for Kidspace, one for Kidlink Newspaper, etc.
  • A new Kidspace registration and login system will be implemented.
  • The classroom csv registration system for Kidspace created in 2013, will be improved and made more easy to use and more secure.

Collaboration

Language areas

  • We are only a few volunteers, so we can not afford to translate general pages, like the about pages. But we welcome translation of project pages if someone is offering us this. E.g. David translated some project pages.

 Youth engagement

  • We are having a hard time to find good youth leaders, willing to help out with the youth committee and in the board. We do not want to abandon this project but hope to find youth leaders during 2014
  • We plan to find a teacher-mentor for youth group, as this is the only way to achieve this goal.

Projects

  • We will continue our work with Multicultural calendar (MCC) and Multicultural recipes as a combined project.
  • We continue our work with WAI and with "Grand mother and me" . With these two projects we can offer important discussion questions.
  • We want to support and improve our new Kidlink Newspaper. We want it to become the Voice of Kidlink.
  • We want more art competitions in KidArt. and  to run DOVES FOR PEACE project.

  • We have enough projects running in Italian. Even if  we don't have  enough volonterees to update and coordinate the Italian area, we can launch every year one/two Italian projects.
  • The Catala group will continue its successful work.
