Landmark Games 2013 Introductions

Do you know this Landmark?

Hello Players from around the world! Please use this Forum space to share information about your part of the world. Include photos of your school or countryside or anything you think might be interesting to the other players in the games.

This year we have an even larger group of players - two categories for Primary in A and B, and a large group in Challenge. At last count, we have 85 teams. I am waiting for final confirmation from a few teams.

It is my distinct pleasure to coordinate this global learning experience! I know from your emails that it is a challenge to organize in your classrooms, and at the same time, it is a significant learning opportunity in both geography, culture, and language for your students.

Best to all!

On this day pupils have a lot of sport competitions and joy. We run, jump, play football and volleyball. We like taking part in different projects. It’s fun!

Some information about us. We live in a small Siberian town called Kalachinsk. Our town is very nice. We are students of 7A grade of Gymnasium #1, it’s a kind of a grammar school. We are very active, clever and sociable. We are so different, but we are friends. We enjoy learning new things and reading interesting books. We are sporty and often take part in different competitions and in the most cases win. We would like to take part in this game, too. We all have important interests, but there is one thing we have in common: we like the English language very much. So we are happy to try our chance in the challenge and wish everyone good luck in the Game!

Dear Terry,
Our favourite geographical competition is here again and we are looking forward to
searching hidden places.

Welcome to the Landmark Game!  This is Ms. Huseman from Eugene Field Elementary in Hannibal, Missouri USA.  This year is a little different in my room as I now have only eight students.  Having so many students transition  in and out of my room has been a challenge.  The Landmark Game may now prove to be one of the biggest challenges as we will have so much research to complete with so few people, but I know we will accomplish the task!!  Check out our class blog at classblogmeister.com

Best of luck to all the teams and LET THE GAME BEGIN!!!

We are happy to greet all the participants!

Our team is from Siberian city Krasnoyarsk. Krasnoyarsk is a capital city of Krasnoyarsk Region which is the geographical centre of Russia.

We are a mixed group of students of several 8th forms. All together there are 25 of us. We take part in such kind of project for the first time and hope that we’ll be able to make a good team. This game will help us to make friends within our team and with students from other teams.

Our gymnasium 14 is rather old. This year we celebrated its 40th anniversary. Different forms helped in the organization. Some invited former teachers and school graduates, others decorated the classrooms, corridors and the assembly hall. In the gymnasium there are some creative teams which gave a concert for guests and active teaching staff.

All the participants in our team are active students. We are always engaged in different class and after-class (extra-curricular) activities. Just a week ago we presented our projects in English “An effective advertisement” and this week we are going to make crosswords and puzzles “Science and technology”, also in English.

You can visit our gymnasium web http://www.gimnaziy14.ru/ and ask your questions our team coordinator Irina Maslova ir_maslova@mail.ru . We would like to make friends with other teams and have contact with them even after the game Landmarks.

The American Community School at Beirut, Lebanon (ACS) was founded in 1905, when a small group of American parents from the Syrian Protestant College, now named the American University of Beirut, (AUB) founded a school that offered an American curriculum.  Currently, we have an enrollment of over 1000 students, in four divisions (Early Years, Elementary, Middle and High School).

Again in 2013, our Landmark Games participants are from the Elementary division (Grade 4 and Grade 5). Visit our websites and blogs to learn a little more about us.

Hello,

We are Pathfinders, a team of 4 classmates. We are typical 9-graders who like playing football, surfing the Net and listening to music. We've joined the project to make new friends and have some fun!

Good luck to every team.

hello everybody!

We are so excited to participate in this search. We are surprised to see so many teams from Russia, Siberia and Krasnoyarsk in particular. It's really a small world!

Actually, there are three of us, that is three teams: Siberian eagles, Siberian Stars and Winter Bears. We are students of Grades 4-6, aged 10-13. We all come from Gymnasia classes with challenging curricula and 5 classes of english per week. So we are eager to improve our language skills through the project.

our school is over 75 years old, thogh the building itself is a bit younger.

There are about 1,200 students and 80 teachers in it. We often take part in various educational, social, creative and even International projects.

happy searching to all of us! Get! Set! GO!
