How to structure a Kidlink project

Drawings by Aditil

Do you want to propose and/or moderate a youth project in Kidlink? Please read this page carefully and then put yourself in contact with Pia that will help in the design and will provide you with the necessary tools.

Remember to include in your project all the items listed here using your creativity to make them artistically appealing.

Project description and summary
Give a title to your project and write a brief description that allows the reader to decide whether to participate and how.   We always hope that our students have the opportunity to work together and share activities, but we also know that sometimes the teachers prefer to be involved in projects that require a limited time commitment.

Materials Required
What will serve for teachers to participate? They will use a scanner or a digital camera? Teachers or their students will need to enter data in Kidlink? It 's very easy to do and we suggest it!

Timeline and deadlines
Set deadlines for each step of the project. Specify even if it is limited in time, with no deadline or if you will repeat it the following year. Some teachers like short projects lasting a month or two, others who see their students once a week in the computer lab prefer long-term projects. If some activities have a precise time limit, please indicate it. A precise temporal patterning allows the teacher to plan the participation in the project with a fair advance.

Age of students
How old  should be students participating in the project? It is possible to open it to students of different ages allowing the older  to have younger partners in a collaborative project!

Language of the Project
Kidlink accepts projects and participation in all languages. Specify the primary language of the draft but also ask for the participation in other languages. Need assistance in the translation?

Educational objectives, curriculum
Many teachers have to justify their participation in online projects demonstrating that the objectives of the project are part of their educational schedule. A comprehensive list will facilitate their membership.

Resources
There are resources such as web pages, which you can list  on a Resource page? Encourage teachers  to share resource ideas and ways they have used the project in their classrooms.

How to participate
Explain clearly the steps that teachers must take to participate in the project:
Teachers must submit the request by Application form or send an email to the  project moderator.
with:
            Name of teacher
            E-mail of the teacher
            School
            City - Nation
            Number and age of students

Planned activities
  • List in order the project activities to be done by the students. Be clear and precise.
  • Is  collaboration  part of the project? Make sure that teachers are aware of the importance that their students work with partners to ensure that no pupils are left disappointed.
  • Do the classes need a project partner? As a moderator you have to help in research and in coupling.
  • Encourage children to make comments on the pages of other project participants
  • Add Rules Page to the Project info

Images in Kidlink
  • Respect copyright laws and only include  images for which you have explicit permission to use in the web. This means that you can't insert images from other websites without express permission from the owner of the page and if you want to include photos of you guys you should have the permission of their parents.
  • Encourage the use of drawings made by children instead of clip art. Each drawing should have the name and age of the student and possibly the technique used.
  • Give clear instructions for inserting images in Kidlink. Remember that they have to be .gif or .jpg and not more than 700 pixels.
  • All art image filenames should contain name, age and country of the student artist.
