In
Kidlink, all participants must answer these following
questions to
register: Who am I? What do I want to be when I grow up? How I want the world to be better when I grow up?
What can I do NOW to make this happen? In 1997, we received the following answers from St. Philip, Barbados:
(1) My name is Jose Martin Gomez (11). I am interested in learning to play the keyboard. I like to watch Cartoon Network. I love to sing. I am trying to join the choir at church. I am a Roman Catholic and go to church every Sunday. My father is Venezuelan and my mother is Trinidadian. I have green coloured eyes. I am interested in art but looking forward to beginning biology in the future. I love to play games on the computer. As soon as my parents upgrade the computer I will be able to play some of the more recent games. I am concerned about the hostility which exists in the world. I wish that people would be more considerate of each other. Today's children and youth has so many beautiful dreams! The sad fact, however, is that too many of them feel they are almost impossible to realize.. Kidlink wants to do something about this. Realizing dreams in a I have a dream program is a logical extension of what we do in our eight-month Who-Am-I? program. Realizing dreams must be more than a theoretical exercise. Otherwise, dreams will tend to vanish without involving many. Therefore, we hope to integrate it with an award program to introduce an important element of realism. To help bring interesting dreams from the discussion level over in practical actions with a potential lasting value for many. Kidlink is about "networking for kids and youth." In addition to promote cooperation and interchanges between youth, I have a dream aims at providing participants with important experiences, and help strengthen their self-assessment. |
