Supporting student work

  1. Coaches provide opportunities for students to reach beyond their limits by giving constant positive encouragement.
    1. Congratulate all efforts that go "beyond the expected" to reach new levels of learning.
    2. Provide meaningful feedback when efforts do not result in immediate success. Suggest alternative plans.
  2. Coaches may find it helpful to identify local organizations which could supply needed funding for I Have a Dream projects.
    1. Make a list of these organizations.
    2. Provide names and phone numbers or e-mail addresses of contacts if possible.
  3. Coaches should broadcast positive publicity about the work of their teams and thereby ensure positive self esteem for the team members.
    1. Share the excellent work of students with teachers, school newspaper journalists and parents.
    2. Inform local media (TV, radio, newspapers) and local school systems of student work in the program.
    3. If students are employed when not in school, inform their employers.
  4. Coaches have access to resources in:
    1. Negotiation skills - | Module 2 | Module 3 | Module 5 |
    2. Fundraising skills and sources - | Module 4 | Module 6 |
