Welcome!

Select a Dream is the second module of Kidlink's I Have a Dream program. Kidlink teachers have created the module and will assist you in effective use of this learning tool for participants. Please note that participants may enter individually or as part of a class. Coaches, who may be teachers, parents, community members or other Kidlink adult volunteers, guide the participants in the program.

You will find many things to discuss and do in each lesson.

No one is expected to do all suggested tasks!

We give many ideas hoping that everyone can find amongst them suitable ideas for their participants. Feel free to choose what is best for you and your participants. Coaches are encouraged to use their own imagination and ideas within this module. The description is only a guide.

Module Description:

In the first two weeks of Module 2 participants promote their own dreams to others as well as evaluate dreams from potential partners that might have similar dreams or dreams that would extend their own project definition. They write a persuasive letter and send it to other participants in the program as well as participants on other KidCom rooms who share similar dreams. They examine letters they get from other participants and browse other participants' web pages in order to evaluate their information. During this process they try to find out if there is a "market" for their own project. They communicate with other participants in the program using KidMail, KidCom, and/or KidSpace .

The goal for weeks 3 and 4 is to decide which dream project to participate in. Participants eliminate those dreams that are too dissimilar to theirs, rank remaining dreams and then decide which groups to negotiate with in developing and organizing a final dream plan.

Right from the beginning there should be a lot of interactive talk and participants. They should use KidMail, KidCom or KidSpace to contact each other, exchange information and discuss ideas and possibilities.
