Welcome to Lesson 2 of the last module of Kidlink's I Have a Dream program. This is an exciting lesson! You will have the opportunity to vote for awards that will be given to I Have a Dream projects. Dream projects have been in progress for some time and now it is time to join Kidlink in recognizing outstanding student work in the I Have a Dream program.

You have all done a fantastic job and your dreams are marvelous. Perhaps you have touched many people and have helped to make our world a better place. You have learned much and have grown in a deeper understanding of the needs of others. While we realize that the greatest awards are those inner feelings that come with knowing that you have made life a little better for someone, we still want to give you recognition.

If you have added members or coaches to your team don't forget to add them on our team's project page.

In order for all to understand the voting process and to vote responsibly, in this lesson we will:

  1. submit applications for projects seeking an award
  2. define the awards for outstanding dream projects
  3. identify and understand the judging and voting process
  4. view dream projects that have been submitted for an award
  5. vote for dream project awards

Submit your project

At this time all teams who would like to receive a Kidlink award for their dream project should submit their project in the program's KidCom room.

It is important to do this now so that the judges can review your project!

What awards will be given?

Awards will be given to those projects that:

  1. have been submitted in an award application
  2. meet the criteria found in the scoring rubric

Who are the judges and the eligible voters?

Judges:

As Module 6 begins, teams will immediately submit their project for an award application. A team of judges selected by Kidlink will begin judging the I Have a Dream projects. They will judge all projects that have been submitted. At the end of this judging there will be 5 semi-finalists from which one grand award winner will be voted upon by all eligible voters in the I Have a Dream program.

Eligible I Have a Dream voters:

All I Have a Dream youth participants are eligible to vote. In order to fill out the voting form it is necessary to have a nickname and password that Kidlink youth participants receive when they answer the 4 Kidlink questions. If you desire to vote, you must answer the questions that are found here:

/english/general/response.html

What projects have been submitted for an award?

All projects that have been submitted for an award by their teams can be found as links to a webpage in the file section of the  I Have a Dream KidCom room.

Reviewing the projects

While the team of judges is selecting the 5 semi-finalists it is your time to read carefully the projects and their award applications that have been submitted for an award. Review the scoring rubric used by our judges to select the top 5 semi-finalists. You are asked to select the best projects for the following general awards:

  1. Most favored by all
  2. Most clever use of resources
  3. Most diverse team
  4. Most predicted to be enduring over time
  5. Best project idea for a Kidlink project in our various Kidproj areas in a variety of languages.
Place your vote!

By the time you have selected these five general awards the judges will have made their selection of the 5 semi-finalists for the grand awards in each category - funded and non-funded. They will announce the 5 semi-finalists on the mailing list and signal the beginning of the final voting. Carefully take another look at each of these 5 dream projects. You will find links to them on the voting page. Score each of the top 5 dream projects to find the highest scoring dream project in your eyes.

It will then be time for you to place the name of one of the projects in each category and Vote!
