Friends,
Welcome to Module 5 of
Kidlink's I
Have a
Dream program. This
has been fun but hard work hasn't it? Your team has been managing and directing
a dream plan for several months. In Module 4 you saw your dream materialize
and now you have some experience in running a project on the Internet. You
revisited your goals and took a good look at the direction in which you were
moving. Now it is time to look at your work and decide what should become
of your dream. Do you want it to continue? Does your team have time to do
it or is it time to close the project?
In Module 4 you designed a rubric to evaluate your dream plan progress. Now
it is time to interpret the results of the rubric and make important decisions.
Teachers, coaches and youth! Remember to register for the program,
or add members or coaches to
your team. ! If you have registered your Dream project in previous
modules you don't have to do it again.
The activities and discussions below are suggestions. Use these as a guide
for completing the program. You may always substitute other activities that
are more suitable for your needs.
How Successful Is Your Dream?
With your dream plan goals in front of you take a look again at the rubric
you made to evaluate your plans. Are you reaching your goals? Do many goals
change when you are actually working on your dream? Collect information from
your teammates on how they feel about the way things have been going. Is
everyone happy with the project? What are you learning? It is time to make
a decision about what shall become of your dream.
First and foremost everyone needs to evaluate what has been done. It is always
good to review projects. When you evaluate your work you learn more than
if you just leave it. The evaluation process might also lead you to the decision
about what you want to happen to your dream project.
Evaluation
| A sample team rubric with suggestions for
interpreting the results has been developed for you. |
Consider several types of evaluation that you and your team might want to
do. Feedback is valuable and will help you improve your dream project.
-
Your own evaluation
-
Evaluation from participants in the dream project
-
Evaluation from other teams in the I
have a dream project
-
Evaluation from those who should gain from the project
Select your own method of evaluation, something that you think works best
for you. It can be detailed or it can be open such as a letter to the
I
Have a
Dream KidCom
room in your
language asking people to look at your dream and give their opinion. You
should also use different objectives depending on whom you are asking, your
team, the participants, others working on dream projects or those who should
gain from your project if appropriate.
Decision Time
When you have completed your evaluation what is your decision?
-
You team feels that your project is now complete.
-
Your team would like to continue the project.
-
with funding?
-
without funding?
Keep in mind that in Module 6 the participants in the
I
Have a
Dream program will
vote for the best dream. Is your project
ready for that? Do you
need to revise web pages or information? Is it in its final state? What are
your next steps in the I
Have a
Dream program? Which
path will you follow?
Choosing a Path
Here are the possible PATHS your team might take:
-
You might have enjoyed the dream project but after
the evaluation it is time to move on to new things. You don't see
the need for the project to continue. Module 6 is your next step where you
will prepare for the I have a dream vote and celebration.
Proceed to Module 6.
-
You are willing to continue the project without funding. Continue on
PATH 2 for strategies to help you do this.
-
You want to continue your dream plan with enhanced goals and plans that seem
possible with funding. Continue on PATH 3 for
strategies to help you.
