Curriculum connection

Art and Drama

  1. Making a collage or bulletin board display.
  2. Using paints, crayons, chalk, ink, water color.
  3. Writing plays and skits.
  4. Writing a song or few music lines to introduce your dream.

Language Arts/Writing

  1. Conducting interviews.
  2. Contacting global partners.
  3. Comparing and contrasting ideas from several sources.
  4. Using the steps within the writing process.
  5. Writing persuasive text.
  6. Writing for different audiences and purposes: to inform, to express personal ideas, to persuade, to present.
  7. Researching newspapers and magazines to find out what other people's dreams are like.

Library Science

  1. Evaluating reliability of information.
  2. Gathering ideas from human sources - peers around the world.
  3. Searching for information using printed and electronic media.

Math

  1. Analyzing and interpreting data using charts and graphs.
  2. Classifying information into categories.
  3. Identifying time zones and calculating times for real time interactions
  4. Organizing and planning a project budget.
  5. Using graphic organizers for comparing and contrasting information

Other Languages

  1. Engaging in conversation with students in languages other than the native tongue.
  2. Increasing vocabulary.
  3. Practicing grammar and syntax in a real world situation.

Physical Education

  1. Learning about the importance of training for one's health and future (good health is a part of many dreams).

Public Speaking

  3. Planning promoting and describing their dreams.

  1. Applying information for problem solving.
  2. Discussing environmental issues.

Social Studies

  1. Collecting information about different dreams students in different countries have.
  2. Describing one's own dreams.
  3. Growing in awareness of the needs of humanity.
  4. Learning about other people's dreams.
  5. Making timelines for historical events (dreams came true).
  6. Researching local and national heroes and their dreams and finding out how they made them come true.
  7. Using maps skills.
  8. Working and negotiating in cooperative groups.

Technology

  1. Accessing and utilizing e-mail.Practicing the use of a word processor.
  2. Creating web pages.
  3. Design graphic.
  4. Locating a web site using searching skills, searching the Kidlink archives for the four questions.
  5. Participating in Kidlink's KidCom discussions.
  6. Using Kidlink's multimedia environment KidSpace to promote a dream.
