Hi from Big Sky Country!

We are glad to be participating for our sixth year in the Landmark Game. It is good to see familiar schools and new ones too. J-I Elementary is a rural school in northcentral Montana just 30 miles south of the Canadian border. Our K-6 school has 42 students, 4 full-time teachers, and 2 part-time teachers. Our school is located in the town of Inverness with a population of about 60 people. The town is four blocks deep and three blocks wide with wheat fields skirting the perimeter. It is situated along US Highway 2. This is an agricultural area with dryland wheat farming as the main source of income. The nearest large city of 70,000 is Great Falls located about 100 miles southwest.

The majority of our students ride the bus to and from school. Some of them have a sixty mile round trip bus ride everyday. Our school day begins at 8:25 and ends at 3:20 for all K-6 students.

We have had a very mild winter this year with little snow. Quite unusual for us. Ten fifth and sixth graders will be participating together in this project. Mrs. Weinert is the teacher and will be the contact person.

We are looking forward to working with all of you. Be talking to you online.
