Leaving the United States

December 10, 1998

Richmond, VA
Our Day began at 6 am on December 10, 1998. We had a shower and completed the packing.  We hope to leave at 10 am.
Our computer was not ready.  So we left only at 12:45. Dad drove the van.  Pastor Andreas from Germany brings the van back to Richmond.

2:16 p.m.  We are almost near the airport.  Hopefully we will get through check-in without any problem.  Dave and I were packed in the back of the van with my mom and with a few baggages.  My muscles are beginning to cramp.

3:36 p.m.  Baggage clearance went well.  We are now waiting for our flight.  David is edgy, as he wants to get on the plane.

5:32 p.m.  I have returned from a mission ordered by mom.  It is to find the an in-flight magazine.  I had to leave our  concourse to get this.  I was under 18 and I was not allowed to leave the terminal.  I am glad I did not get out.  I would not have got in, as I did not have the tickets in my hand.  There is no way the security would have let me in. I saw how the first class passengers were treated.  He place looked like a varitable palace.  It had crystal chandeliers and red wood paneling.

6:00 pm. We are on our way to London.

Washington DC to London

Our trip was very pleasant.  We had a good meal.  I watched Parent Trap during the flight.  Then I was just moving around to look through the dark clouds.  We arrived in London safely.  My dad checked all baggage except the carry on and one suitcase into a left luggage place.  Guess how much!  3 pounds and 50 pence per piece per day.  Here is little math for you. For each pound, you get $1.8. We were leaving six pieces for four days. Calculate how much my dad and mom spent in leaving the baggage. We dragged the rest and went by tube (underground train in London) to Euston station.  To go to Euston from Heathrow, we were asked to change at Kings Cross station.  That was a bad mistake. Next time, when you want to go from Heathrow to Euston, just take the airbus that costs double but it has less problems. I have never seen so many people lad into a subway train like this in my life.  I have been to New York you know.  I was literally nose to nose with another Londoner.  We took the train from Euston to Manchester.

In London;  11 p.m December 12, 1998 - 6:30 am December 14, 1998

If you have been in Kidlink for a long time, you should have known Mr. Burleigh.  After rest on December 12th we went to Tower of London.  Then we could not go to West minister abbey.  So we took a cab to British museum.  On our way we saw the Buckingham palace, Guards on the horse, trafalgar square, downing street, and Tower bridge. We spent a lot of time in British museum by looking at the sections on Egyptology.  We ate pizza at Pizzahut.  The next morning, Mr. Burleigh dropped us at the airport.  My parents wanted us to pray that we would not have any trouble with baggage, weight of the baggage.  We were carrying lots of gift items such as stuffed toys for poor children in India for Christmas.  God was good.  Things happened smoothly. We were in the British airway flight to Madras around 12 noon on that day.  When we were at the airport, we met some boys from South Africa and made friends with them.

We had a very good time in London and with Mr. Burleigh.
