Visit to Hyderabad City, India

Hyderabad City
Our visit to Hyderabad was very interesting as we
saw a number of historic sites including Charminar, Salar Jung museum,
and Golconda fort. The Charminar was a gate to Hyderabad when it was a
Muslim town. The Charminar was nothing more than a king's pleasure. Nawab,
muslim king, built the Charminar to prove the luxuriance of Hyderabad.
A slight pun on words that I noticed was that the word minaret. The
Salar Jung museum was nothing more than the collections of the kings for
the past few centuries. The wonderful thing about the collection is that
it was collected indiscriminately and has items from almost every culture
n the planet. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take a camera inside
and so we do not have any pictures. I never understood this.
Even in London museum, we were allowed to take cameras. Here, even
though things are kept in glass cases, they are not polished, dusted or
kept clean. Very precious art pieces are just outside. No temperature
control in the rooms. Any way, I was disappointed about the
maintenance. However, the collection and
the materials inside the museum, you have got to see it to believe the
riches of the Kings.
I am in Madras today and I am sending this text
by email. For pictures, you will have to see the web.
