I have two grandmothers.
I call one of them Gan or granny and
the other one granny apple or gran.
Granny apple has a big bowl of sweets
and every time we go there we have two
or three sweets and in the summer we sometimes
go swimming because we don't have a pool and she
lives on a big ground floor blocks of flats with a big
pool. My other Gran lives in front of a golf course
with many other houses around her and and the
golf course. We go there on Sundays for lunch but
not every Sunday.

Hi my name is Julia W
I have two grannies . I call my two grannies La-la
and granny. My granny called La-la has only one eye because her eye operation went wrong. My other granny takes me shopping and she bakes cakes. Oh and they both live in Zimbabwe in the city of Harare which is a long way away.
We have to visit them by aeroplane.

The way of saying grandmother in Afrikaans is Ouma (Ou as in obe, Ma as in Margaret) The word for "grandmother" in Xhosa is umakhulu - pronounced "ooo maa koo lu" The Zulu for GrandMom is Gogo, not as in "go for a walk" but as in the "o" in order.
