My Granny!

I call my Mom's mom Gabby and my Dad's mom Gagas. I like to go shopping with my granny's (by myself) because I can talk with her and she can talk with me. Gabby taught me to knit. I will always remember Gabby when I do crosswords because she loves them .she does them night and day. She goes to church nearly every day. Gagas spoils me a lot and I will remember her when I buy an ostrich egg because she sells them and has them all over her house.

Ek noem my ma se ma Gabby en my pa se ma noem ek Gagas.

I call my grandmother: granny, grosmami, which is Swiss and grosmouter, which is German.

My mom is Swiss, my dad is Dutch and my brother and I are Swutch. It's funny, isn't it.

My ma is Sweeds, my pa is Nederlands, en ek en my broer is "Swutch" (Swiss + Dutch).

The way of saying grandmother in Afrikaans is Ouma (Ou as in obe, Ma as in Margaret)

The word for "grandmother" in Xhosa is umakhulu - pronounced "ooo maa koo lu"

The Zulu for GrandMom is Gogo, not as in "go for a walk" but as in the "o" in order.
