I call my granny Gran-Gran. I love my granny
because she taught me everything I know. She
always comforts me and never makes me sad.
My grandmother is Italian so I call her Nonna. She takes me on
long walks with Dusky her Border collie dog .On Thursdays she
fetches me from school and buys me some chips, crisps and an ice
cream. We cook pancakes, do some gardening and sometimes brush Dusky.
I love my Nonna so much.

I like going shopping with my gran because sometimes she buys sweets
for my brother and I.
My granny is special to me because sometimes at night she reads us a
story and she puts us to bed. My granny lives in Hermanus but we
sometimes go there for a weekend and stay there because she has a
little room with three beds in it. She also has a room for my mom
and dad. There is a room for my uncle and aunt
My granny is a very clever person because she can heal anybody I
remember the last time I went to my granny I was really sick and
she put her hands on my head and already I felt better after that.
I love my granny very much.

The way of saying grandmother in Afrikaans is Ouma (Ou as in obe, Ma as in Margaret) The word for "grandmother" in Xhosa is umakhulu - pronounced "ooo maa koo lu" The Zulu for GrandMom is Gogo, not as in "go for a walk" but as in the "o" in order.
