My class and I had a wonderful field trip to observe the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.  It started by riding a school bus across the bridge to Sandy Point State Park which is on the western side of the bridge.  As we crossed the bridge we listed all the things we saw and heard.  At Sandy Point we sat and observed the bridge from the peaceful shoreline.  We once again listed the things we observed and then all shared our thoughts.  We then ate lunch and returned to school. Listed below  you will read all the things we observed.

SOUNDS AS WE CROSSED THE BRIDGE:
car engines
students talking
truck horns blowing
tires rolling on the bridge
automobiles riding over bumps
humming of the tires
rattles as the bus crossed bumps
wind coming through the windows
car passing

SOUNDS FROM SANDY POINT STATE PARK:
geese honking loudly
seguls squaking
jack breaks of a truck slowing down on the bridge
jets flying overhead
water swishing on the beach
boats passing by
winds rustling leaves

SIGHTS SEEN FROM THE BRIDGE AND SANDY POINT STATE PARK
toll booths
Magothy River
watermen fishing
cables holding up the bridge
steel, cement, wires on the bridge
bridge workers
Naval Academy
Sandy Point Lighthouse
clammers, oyster boats, freighters coming up the bay (maybe from one of your countries)
channel markers
buoys
beachy shorline
sailboats
old ferry docks
lights on the bridge to mark lanes
seaguls soaring
geese flying in v-formation
water glistening
trees swaying in the wind
leaves falling
bridge is so long, it looks never ending

SMELLS
exhaust from the trucks and cars
air fresh and clean
fresh water

FEELINGS:
happy and excited
scared of how high the bridge is
bumpy ride
wind blowing in face
air felt damp like rain is coming

As you can see, everyone was very observant.  Now we are busily working on writing our final piece to share with you all.  We look forward to reading all of yours.   Mrs. Heckard's 4th grade class
