Our highschool, "Yigal Allon High" (In Hebrew; "Tichon Allon"), is one of the schools participating in the TOE Project. We are 10th graders in an advanced English class.
In our class are.. Hm.. quite enough pupils; 30, to be exact. Alon is an arts school, and in addition to the regular subjects (math, biology, history, etc.) one can take courses in music, visual arts, film making, dancing, and such.
On 2 days out of 6 (down here in Israel we have school on Sundays, sad
but true) all those who chose and got accepted to one,
study and practice in our selected courses, which means some have
to accomplish what others
who did not choose a specific course do in 4 days instead of
6. Plenty of extra school hours, but it's well worth it!
No, we don't have a school uniform. It would DEFINITELY not suit Allon's atmosphere!!
The most important thing one could say about Allon High is that the
vast majority of students, if not them all, are very pleased with it, and
it's all much better and more fun than any of us thought. Can't say
anything
about the teachers yet, though!
We have all acquired many new friends here in Allon, but then again, with over 1200 students in a school it's not too hard to find people with common interests and hobbies.
This has been a very brief introduction. In the following
year we might work together and get to know a bit more about one another,
and you will get to read about places of interest (to us) here in Israel.
