Hello Everyone!
We are a group of sixth grade gifted students who attend Henderson Intermediate School. We are in a gifted program that meets one class period per day. Our teacher is Mrs. Roberts. We have more boys than girls among these classes and the total number of students that will be participating is 38. The smallest group that meets is 4 students and the largest is 8. Our school is a one grade school and 329 people attend. We are an at-risk school, many of our students are on free and reduced lunch due to parent income. Even though we have a major university in our town, we are still considered a rural area. Unemployment is 3.5 percent with the largest employer being the university. Our town is 18,000 people and the university is around 20,000. Most of us do not know exactly what we want to do when we grow up...math and science seem to be our major interests. We are getting ready to do a huge unit on the Titanic using Internet resources as well as print and film materials. Right now we are working on "Creative Constructions" - a geometry project. The designs are neat. We are also trying to learn French. We wonder how the French schoolday is compared to ours...do they have to eat lunch room food?
We look forward to meeting you and finding you on a map. Take care.
