These are two fourth grade classes from Bayside Elementary located in Stevensville, Maryland. Stevensville is a small rural community of the Eastern Shore of Maryland on Kent Island bordering the Chesapeake Bay. We are within one hour of Baltimore and our nation's capital, Washington, D.C.
Bayside Elementary is located on the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay. We have a student body of approximately 760 students. We service grades 3,4, and 5. Our school is divided into 9 teams called Communities. Each team is made up of 4 teachers with grades 3,4,and 5.
Mrs. Heckard's class has 28 students, 10 girls and 18 boys. Mrs. Cox's class also has 28 students. Her class is comprised of a mixture of regular education and special education students. Presently we are studying Animals in Science, history of Maryland in Social Studies, environment in Reading and working on descriptive writing in Language Arts.
We have enjoyed reading other introductory letters and are excited about the project. Our field trip is planned as a walking field trip to observe the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, as it is vital to our community because it connects eastern Maryland to the Western part of the state.
We look forward to reading about your special place.
