 LETTER OF INTRODUCTION
Rock Hall Middle School,  Rock Hall, Maryland, USA
Teacher:  Terri Mullikin

HELLO!  This is the 7A class of Rock Hall Middle School in Kent County, Maryland coming at you via the Internet.  Rock Hall Middle School is located on the Chesapeake Bay; in fact, you can see the Bay from the back lot of the school.  There are 19 kids in our class, and only 164 kids in our whole school.  Our school has grades 5 through 8.  The students in our class are 11 to 13 years old.  School starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:35 p.m..  We run on a day 1-day 2 schedule.  There are four periods each day.  Each period is 90 minutes long.  Our schedule on day 1 is:  period 1, Social Studies; period 2, Reading/Language Arts; period 3, Health or Gym and Computer; and period 4, Pre-Algebra.  On day 2 we have Art and Music during period 1, Reading/Language Arts during period 2, Pre-Algebra during period 3, and Science during period 4.  We have five marking periods.  At one time, the building that our middle school was the Rock Hall High School.

We have many clubs and activities for students.  We have a Student Government Association, or SGA, which plans activities such as penny wars for charity, kiss a pig, and spirit week.  The SGA also operates the student bookstore.  At the end of the year, the SGA organizes a field day for the entire school.  There are Dragon's Club (our school mascot is the dragon) and Principal's Club to reward students for good behavior and grades.  Every year, during the winter holidays, and again in the spring, our music teacher plans a musical performance.  A lot of students get involved in this activity.  They can sing in the chorus, play in the band, or have a speaking part.  Students can earn Service Learning hours needed for graduation by participating in the musical. Last year our school even had a talent show.  We also have other activities like the Meteorological Society which collects weather data for a local TV news channel.  Students also create a video yearbook.

Most of the kids in our class play a sport.  The favorite sports are soccer, football, softball, baseball, and basketball.  We like to hang out and talk with our friends.  Pizza and steamed crabs are our favorite foods.  We like a wide variety of music such as rap, r&b, country, and rock.

We look forward to sharing more about our town with you later.  This is RHMS signing off.
