There are about 670 seventh and eighth grade students in our school
from many different cultures. We divide students and teachers into
cores. The seventh grade, us, is divided into three cores.
Our core is Core B and there are about 100 of us. Each core has four
main subjects: English, math, science, and social studies.
We start school at 9 AM and end at 3:13 PM. Each class lasts 43 minutes
and lunch is 30 minutes. Core B also has a Homework Club for students
if they need help with
their homework.
Our mascot at Tefft is the Trojan and our school colors are purple and white. We have sports throughout the school year. In the fall there is girls volleyball and boys football. In the winter both girls and boys play basketball. And, in the spring, we have girls and boys track. Each sport usually lasts around 2 months.
Like other Middle schoolers we like eating at McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Wendy’s. Pizza, tacos, hot-dogs, and hamburgers are some of our favorite foods.
For our essay, our core is going to one of the tallest buildings in Chicago, the John Hancock Building. We are going to see the view and we will write about our experience for all of you to read.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and also writing more to you,
Sincerely,
Core B, Tefft Middle School
