Fonner Park in Grand Island, Nebraska, is used for many activities. It is a three story building that is about two blocks long. It has a dirt track in the shape of a circle. There is a fountain in the center of the track. On the side of the building they have three horse barns. They have an area for people with trailer campers for the people
who race the horses.The horse races take place at Fonner Park too. It's so much fun watching the horses race. It sounds cool when they land on their hooves. It smells bad, but who cares. It's still fun. If you bet the right horse, then you get money. If the horse wins, it makes the people happy and the jockey happy at the same time.
In August, you can go to the Hall County Fair. At the fair you can go to dog and horse shows. At the carnival, you can ride the ferris wheel, the bumper cars, the Kamikaze, and the Tsunami. Every year, a band or singer plays a concert. You can also win fabulous prizes like stuffed aliens and other stuffed toys, inflatable toys, and goldfish.
If you go to the soccer fields, it's a lot of fun. Everyone's cheering on their team. The boys and girls are getting a lot of exercising by running. But while the boys and girls are running, they're also having a lot of fun because they might be winning. You might have been the one who scored the winning goal for your team. There's a whole
audience watching them and having fun.Some people go to the circus that is held there. They take their kids to see the clowns and the trapeze artists hanging from the bars. If they fall, they will land on a trampoline. You can buy cotton candy; it is all sticky.
They have home shows too. They show the newest fireplaces, heaters, air conditioners, and major appliances. They have about three trailer homes on display that you can go through. There are lots of balloons and freebies. They have everything you would want in a house. The car show has awesome new and old cars because people have taken cars and gotten them all cleaned up, or they would take old beat-up cars and make them all spiffy. I saw a 1963 Corvette split window.
A great way to earn money is to clean stables at Fonner Park. See, all you have to do is ask a trainer if you can clear the stables. You usually get paid $5.00 per hour. When you do this, it really stinks, but you get used to it. Fonner Park has fireworks on July fourth. They are really loud, but the colors make up for that. This takes place every year. The fireworks last about a half hour to an hour. So, Fonner Park is used by many people for many purposes. It is a fun place to be.
