The Chesapeake Bay Through Our Eyes
Marion Sarah Peyton School, Marion, Maryland, USA
Teacher:  Patti Monk

Our cruise on the Chesapeake Bay was a first-time adventure for some of us.  We smelled the salt water as it splashed up on the boat. The unpleasant odor of the marsh made us hold our noses!  The water had a pungent smell.  We saw vacant osprey nests left behind on the channel markers.  The Annapolis Naval Academy was enormous.  Rocks lined the shore and offered protection for the houses there.  The Chesapeake Bay Bridge looked like an arch towering over us.  The white caps on the Bay rocked our boat as we sailed along.  The waves beat against our boat and sounded like distant thunder.  Our day on the water made our study of the Chesapeake Bay come to life.
