LETTER OF INTRODUCTION
Hamilton Central School
Hamilton, New York
Teacher: Jeanne Rose
Hi everyone,
We live in a village called Hamilton in upstate New York. In our town you will find Colgate University. One of the things we like at Colgate are the tennis courts. the public gets to use them for free. Mr. Poznar, a teacher at our school, gives tennis lessons. They are a fun thing to do.Every Saturday from May to October, there is a "Farmer's Market on the village green or park as the kids call it. You can buy vegetables, woven rugs, wire models, and almost anything else you can think of, even cookies! Occasionally, a band plays on the band stand. There is a water fountain in the middle of the green. People make wishes and throw pennies into it. There are always kids playing tag in the park. It is a fun place to go.
There is also a huge playground at our school that everybody loves. It is great for playing hide and seek! There are swings, four slides, a swinging bridge and other climbing and hanging bars. Our town has at least 5 pizza shops and they all make very good pizza. There are also many other good places to eat. The newest pizza place is Oliveri's Pizzeria. It has more than just pizza. it has ham rolls, pepperoni rolls, and other kinds of rolls. It has subs and a soda machine. And it has very good wings. But we will save the rest since this is the place that we have chosen to describe! We have a very nice library in Hamilton. It has a children's section, a grownup section, a poetry section and a movie section. It also has computers that people can use. The internet is on and e-mail. It is fun.
Hamilton is a beautiful town especially on the 4th of July. We have a big parade with horses, fire trucks, and a convertible that the Mayor rides in. the people in the parade throw candy to the people watching the parade and everyone rushes to get it. Our school is a K-12 building right in the village. There are about 800 students. We don't wear uniforms. We play soccer, ice hockey, basketball, football, baseball, and individual sports. Everyone in town seems to do something active.
We hope you enjoy learning about us. We have enjoyed the letters from other students. It is fun to hear how much the same or different everyone is.
