  LETTER OF INTRODUCTION

Agassiz Middle School, North Dakota

Teacher: Gayle Hyde

Hello! We are the Siberian team at Agassiz Middle School in Fargo, North Dakota. Our team consists of about 120 students. Some the activities that go on at Agassiz are the drama club, Intramural sports, the school newspapers, speech/debate, and the Tiger's den.

Intramural sports are basically afterschool sports which consist of every American sport. Tiger's Den is an after school program that allows students to have some fun after school by playing games and buying food. The seventh grade is in charge of TigerVision, which is a television broadcast done in the mornings to inform of things going on that day. We have many things named after tigers because the tiger is our school mascot. Our daily schedule starts with early morning music and then continues with PAWS. PAWS stands for "positive activities with students." This is a smaller class. It is used to do fun activities and to work on homework, etc.

Our core classes are language arts, life scinece, geography, Family and Consumer Sciences, and math/pre-algebra. Next semester Family and Consumer Sciences rotates with health. Our enrichment classes are Foreign Language Survey, Industrial Technology, Physical Education and music/art. There are two types of Industrial Technology which include woodworking and CADD (computer assisted design and drafting). The Siberian team has a very busy day at Agassiz Middle School.
