Cavriago is a small town near Reggio
Emilia in the Emilia Romagna region in the north of Italy, and it's a very organised and quiet community. |

| Our favourite place in it is Zanti Square, a central
square, built together with the ancient castle and village in the Middle Ages, which has
been recently restored and now looks very beautiful. In the centre of it, there is a big and red fountain surrounded by
yellow and purple flowers. The fountain has an important attraction
for children, teenagers and finally for some pigeons. In front of the fountain, there is
the brown and orange library, with big windows. |

In the library the children study and do their homework,
everyday. Here you can also read newspapers and magazines, borrow music CD-ROMS, use Internet to chat, to do surveys, to surf in the net and send E-mail to anybody. It's our favourite place because in it we can meet each other and do pleasant things. It is divided into children and adult sectors. |
Under the arcade near the library, there are: the clothes shops, the newsagent's, the tobacconist's and the ice cream shop (its ice creams are fantastic!), the bank, the video rental shop and a coffee bar where people meet, play cards, bet and participate to the different lotteries, another clothes shop and a jewellery.
Every morning a delicious smell of coffee and pastries comes from these coffee bars.
All around the square, there are some yellow, orange and
brown flats and terraced houses which date back to the 19th century, modified in the 1960.
| Linked to the square, there is a big garden with old trees where you can find Saint Terenziano Church, built in the seventeenth century. In it you can visit the church museum with some ancient calixes, ciboriums, pictures of Saints and other precious objects coming from the church. The church is big and yellow, and it is surrounded by some cedars , chestnut trees and pines. | ![]() |

Now, the garden is covered with brown, red and orange leaves. It's like a soft sea and it's beautiful to walk on it. The column stands in front of the church. In the past it was a well where the inhabitants drew off the drinkable water. Every Saturdays most of us students go to the parish to learn about Christian Catholic Religion, to chat and play together. |

In the centre of the garden, there are a small fountain , three garden seats, some roses, lamps and the dog box. |
Behind the square, there is the Town Hall and in front of
it there is a memorial monument in memory of the people who died in World War2. Next to
the Town Hall there's the exhibitions, concerts and conferences hall.
| Every Wednesday morning, next to the square, there is a small market with some food and clothes stalls. You can find lots of people walking and talking, or simply looking at the different stalls. We can smell perfumes of fresh fish, roast chicken, chips, Parmesan cheese and so on. All is colourful and joyful! | ![]() |
Behind the church, there is a small kiosk where every Saturday old people fry the "gnocco", a typical food of our region such as cappelletti, lasagne, erbazzone and tortelli.
But our favourite traditional food is Parmesan chheese. It's very very good!
The cradle of it is among three small towns nearby: Bibbiano, Cavriago and Montecchio Emilia. They have been fighting the parentshood of it since ages.
Every third Sunday of the month there's an antiques
market, so the square and the streets nearby are closed to the traffic and covered with
old stuff and expecially full of people looking at something to buy or exchange. There are
also the seats of two political parties of our town.

Even at night the square is very busy and its a meeting place where shows and plays are performed. |
