Oliveri's Pizzaria

Hamilton Central School, Hamilton, New York

Teacher: Jeanne Rose

The students from Hamilton Central School in Hamilton, New York are   sending their final essay.  We have enjoyed this project .  We have   learned about team work, writing using interesting language, how to make   pizza, and about other people and places.

Oliveri's Pizzeria

When we went to Oliveri's Pizzeria, we sat down and noticed that  the beautiful sunlight shone through the great big windows in the front  of the restaurant.  There were a couple of green plants and also a zebra  plant by the windows. Oliveri's is a small, square shaped restaurant.   There were a lot of Colgate University posters on the wall.  No one was   in the restaurant when we went in.
All five of us hurried up to order our food at the rectangular  counter  that had a white menu laminated on the top.  There was a gray  cash register on the counter.  Next to it was a big, hot, square food  heater with circular racks in it.  There were pizza rolls on the racks   and the food was being kept warm as the racks spun around slowly.  Next   to the counter was a cooler with sliding, clear glass doors so you could  see the drinks inside.
We watched the waitress make a calzone in the kitchen.   First, she  took the pizza dough out of the bowl and patted it into a circle.   Then  she put all kinds of food on it like sauce, cheese and pepperoni.   We  could smell  bubbly, hot, juicy pizza with pepperoni on it.  She cooked  the calzone in a silver colored oven.
After we saw the waitress making the calzone, we went to sit down.  The square tables had tan and gray tiles that were smooth.  The sides of  the tables were bumpy.  The comfortable chairs were wood and very   smooth.
We ate spicy, red and white, bubbly pizza and pizza rolls on white  paper plates.  When we bit into one of the pizza slices the spicy,   stringy, saucy kind of food spilled down our chins!  It was the best!   The sauce got on the smooth tiles of the table.  Good thing there were   big white napkins to help us.
