MMM! Yum! Our class went to Jack-In-The Box to write our descriptive essay for the Through Our Eyes project. We chose a fast-food restaurant because we all enjoy fast-food. Fast-food is cheap, quick, tasty, and fits our busy everyday lives. Jack-In-The Box has a wide variety of food and it is conveniently located near our school. These are the main reasons we picked this restaurant for our descriptive essay.
As we walked off the bus, the first thing we heard was the roaring of cars traveling
along the busy street. When you first drive up to the restaurant, you see a
big rectangular shape building with grayish-black shingles on the roof. There is a
large maroon sign with bubble letters clearly stating the words
"Jack-In-The-Box" in white letters that light up at night. The big, square
sign is located in the front, center of the roof. Along the base of the building,
there are gray bricks and vertical off-white wood planks. The planks and bricks
support the windows and structure of the building. The rectangular windows surround
three-fourths of the building. These windows allow outsiders to view the inside of
the restaurant. Located at the left side of the building is a drive thru window.
A surveillance camera which is posted on the corner of the building, monitors all
activity at the drive thru. Next to the drive thru is a patio for those
customers that love the outdoors. The patio is small but pretty. There are
six, red and white umbrellas above six, white, square tables that have red wavy seats
attached to the tables. There were many tall trees and shrubs bordering the concrete
patio. Standing outside we were caught between the horrid smell of gasoline
and the wonderful aroma of fries sizzling inside the kitchen. This aroma was
beckoning us to open the glass double doors that
leads to the wonderful world of Jack-In-The-Box.
As we walked into the restaurant, we were overwhelmed with excitement as we were getting closer to eating a delicious snack. First we have to describe the inside of Jack's place. Directly in front of you is the cash register on top of a wooden countertop. The menu is located on the wall behind the countertop. The menu is a typical fast food restaurant menu. The shake machine is a metallic box that spits out different flavors of ice cream into the paper cups. Next, you look at the gigantic menu, decide on your selection, and order. As you turn around facing the window, you will see a small condiment counter that supplies your fast food accessories. As you venture to find a place to sit, you see a small quaint dining area. There is light brown Thank-You trashcan pushed against the lavender, orange, teal, and pink splash wallpaper. The wooden tables are smooth with soft, turquoise cushions on the chairs. There are booths with turquoise cushions along the side windows of the restaurant. Above each table and booth, there are hanging lamps that look like flying saucers without the bottoms. To provide an atmosphere of "elegance" there are fake hanging plants between each lamp. All of this sits upon a diamond-like patterned carpet. Soft music, laughter, the beeping noise of the fry machine completes the dining experience.
We got the oreo cookie shake . The oreos were ground up into little crunchy , chocolate morsels . The ice cream was smooth and creamy . It was extremely cold in our mouths . The shakes were terrific! Bryce slurped his up at the speed of sound. In 3 days Jonathan has gone there 4 times that proves how terrific it was. For a snack Anna got a chocolate shake. The chocolate Ice cream came out of a metal dispenser. It was mixed together with other ingredients by being put into a blender. When she took her first sip it was heaven. Everything was thick and creamy. It was cold and it made her shiver. Anna wanted it to last so she took small sips so that it would last , but when we got back to school we had to throw it away. So she gulped it all up. Anna can't wait to have another one!!! I, Natalie, am describing the most delicious taco. It was a meat and cheese taco. As soon as I took my first bite, I new that I had just taken a bite of the most wonderful taco in the world. The meat and cheese was not spicy and it was not mild, it was in-between. It tasted like it had just been made and it was hot. Now I know that I had just eaten the most wonderful taco in the world, I am so looking forward to coming back again! Curly, curly, and more curly fries! Curly fries are mostly long, curly, and seasoned. Many people prefer Jack-In-The-Box's curly fries over McDonald's regular, old, boring, fries. The fries section of the report is by Nick, Morgan, and Courtney.....We love curly fries! We thought Jack-In-The-Box was a great field trip. We had a wonderful time writing descriptive while enjoying our favorite snacks. The fifth grade class at The Galloway School hoped we have persuaded you enough to actually go and visit this restaurant. Although, fast food might taste wonderful to some people, it contains many calories and grams of fat. So if you don't want to weigh more than 200 pounds, don't eat there more than two times a week!
