Interview of Chin Shui Lan
Location: Some where in southern china (between Kai Ping and Baisha)
Today we entered an old village. There were lots of people but one older lady really stood out. She had lots of wrinkles and the teeth that she had left were badly stained. As we approached she smiled and started walking towards me. She pointed at my scratched up leg and started talking. I couldn’t understand so I got Kingston to help. She wanted to know if I needed to get my cut cleaned out. I said no thanks, but I asked it I could interview her. That was okay so we got out or paper and pens and started asking.
She said that she had lived in the village for 60 years and she was more than 80 years. She has 5 kids, (three boys and two girls). The sad thing was that her husband was dead and that she had had an awful past. Her parents died when she was a baby and was put in another family. Then she was introduced to man who later became her husband. Now she in living in a village with her friends and two grandsons. She was a farmer but is now a housewife. She seems to be really happy and comfortable. She really wanted us to come and have some tea. It was too bad that we didn’t have more time!
