Perpsective of the Chinese Dragon
(by: Liz Belfer)
( Hi Mom! Hi Dad!)
Quiet. Busy. Old. New. All these things I notice every day while flying through the pink, white clouds. As I soar above the people. I feel so powerful as I see how these little souls struggle through their lives.
Drifting a little lower I spotted dots of red. Closer and closer, people biking through my lands, my rolling hills, my dirt paths, my home.
They seem to be foreigners. My people in the villages talked to them. Friends are made. I used my powers and feel that there is learning amongst these strange children, men and women.
Hmm, sometimes I laugh at my people, how they have never seen the other kinds of people in our world. They in turn laugh at these people, their light hair, their safety helmets.
Then there is a special group I notice. One cute little boy with a shaved head. A tall girl who later hurt her ankle. Another boy who seemed a strong biker with Spandex that was not at all tight. Then, yet another boy, who was really obsessed with chickens, and earlier almost got his group killed (just kidding about the last part) Then there was a girl who was always wanting to go shopping and had a silver, turquoise helmet. Also, lastly, there was their leader, a tall man with lots of spirit.
My favorite group seemed to have a good day of biking and learned much from my native people. I am pleased.

Bird Perspective
There go those jokes guilos through our country again. Last time they came they messed everything up. They're always messing up, in fact I'll bet they're going to... there they go, those idiots! Their bus went too far. That's what I like about being a bird, I can just swerve back instead of taking an hour or two to reverse. I wonder what they're going to do next? Oh, now that's a good one. They're riding on little contraptions and almost killing themselves gasping for air instead of riding in that bus! Well, at least they're getting the excersise.
Well, I've been hovering awhile and they seem to dumb to go on this kind of a trip. They keep stopping at the vilages and causing a riot! And worse yet, they just sit there talking in their own language and expecting us to understand us!
I've been talking to my relative birds and they say that they saw the humans earlier in the day. They were exploring the city and this time had someone who spoke our language. It looked like they were having fun. They also said they were learning about manufaturing, which is a fascinating topic. Too bad I wasn't there too...
They've been stopping a lot and talking a lot. They ate this boxed lunch that would appear good, but they wouldn't let me examine it.

Afternoon Perspective

Somewhere in Southern China
We had lunch in a village. As unusual we had another boxed lunch. This time we had some more eggs and the usual orange or banana. For the main course we has bread with a buttery flavor. The best part of the lunch was that we got to have Coke. After we has eaten our lunch the rest of the people went down to the near by village. We took pictures of the villagers and tried to communicate with them. Some of people were also playing with the ox that in a small pond. We then were on our way; our group was the first group to be off. So we biked and biked over hills and down hills. We had to make a right turn at a certain part. When we thought that we got there we went in an explored. We met up with Mrs. Buchners group. We went more into the village when we noticed that we went the wrong way! We had to go all the way back to he beginning and started to bike more. We went another few kilometers to the actually place where we were supposed go take a right turn. We explored the village while we biked. The scenery was very gorgeous. Then after a lot of kilometers and we met up with the other groups. We went another few kilometers till we found a small village. Since we only had 7 kilometers to go in a two-hour period. The villagers farmed clams. We watched them catch them and cook them for a meal. We talked a lot with them and "bonded" with them. After we had finished with them we went off more. We then stopped at a school. My group and another group went in. The other group asked the questions that were in the booklet and some other questions that they were curious about. When we had finished we spent some time with the kids. After we were off. We went no stop to our destination at the reservoir. Then we got there and had to lug our bikes up a big hill. We spent a lot of time there. When we had to go we got on the bus and rode off on the bus. We stopped a half-hour later to go to the basket factory. The teachers didn't want us kids to go so we stayed on the bus. After another half-hour we were off for the hotel. When we got there we took showers and went to dinner. That was the day.

Virtual China
Morning perspective:
Today we had our second breakfast in China Overseas Hotel. From everyone's personal point of view the breakfast was much better the day before. As soon as breakfast was over we went on a scavenger hunt for a factory. In Tai Shan (the city we are staying in) the factory are much smaller than the ones in the U.S.A. They are as big as just only one room, generaly. We finally found a factory after a long walk. This factory was a printing and the making of cardboard boxes. To an average child this trip might of not sounder interesting, but if you are in the place where it all happens and study it in depth: then it becomes fascinating. There were olden German style printing presses, that had to be run by human labors We interviewed the manager of the factory, and he told us about the wages that his workers get paid. After the factory, we went back to the hotel, loaded the bus, and headed out to our destination. We met the truck that carried our bikes, and started on the trail. As we go along on our trip if there is a village that someone in our group would like to stop and take an interview, we are allowed to. So we found his village which had a hospital in it, but never got around to doing the interview. We bicycled out of the village and went to another one to eat our box lunches, and that's when the second part of our journey started.
