Map of study tour Hong Kong International School (HKIS) is pleased to announce details for the upcoming KIDPROJ activity, "Virtual China `97". This third annual project provides students from all parts of the globe with an opportunity to monitor the activities of and participate with HKIS 7th grade students during their week-long bike trip through Southern China (about 200-300 kilometers WNW of Hong Kong) or their week-long visit to the ancient Chinese capital of Xi'an, site of the famous Terra Cotta Warriors. We hope that students and teachers from around the world who participate can achieve the goal we have for each of our travellers (virtual or real) to "Grow in his/her understanding, appreciation and respect for the Chinese people and their culture".

Again this year there will be two separate weeks of study/travel, with about one hundred 7th graders and their chaperones travelling the week of April 6-11 and the other one hundred travelling from April 13-18. Approximately 60% of our students have chosen the Xi'an study/tour option, and the remaining 40% will be biking.

Does your group have any questions that you would like us find the answers for? After you are registered with Kidlink, please follow the instructions on pre-travel questions and send them before April 1, 1997 or from the web use WWWBoards. We will try to find out the answers during our travel in China. Please be sure to include the name of your school and email address.

HKIS 7th graders and their teachers invite students, teachers, and other interested parties from around the world to follow along virtually, and share in this first hand, up-close experience with the people, culture, and geography of China. To help you decide if you want to participate we are providing information about each of the study/trip options.
