The People and Countryside
1. What kind of animals do you see as you're going through the countryside?
2. Under what conditions can someone go to a "retirement home"? We
learned everyone must work in China - that there are no free rides.
3. Is watermelon always the last course of a meal for the students as it
is for the Chinese people?
4. Are there fruit trees in orchards? What kind of fruit is growing out in
the countryside?
5. How wide is the road you're traveling on?
6. What does the typical house in the country look like? Do they have
modern conveniences? T.V.?, toilet, shower, ovens, hot water when you want
it? How do they receive news of what is going on in the cities?

School-Kids
1. How many days a week do students attend classes? How many hours a day do
they attend? Can everyone attend school? Do the teacher's have permission
to hit students? Do they have a lot of homework?
2. What happens if a student doesn't do their homework? What is likely to
happen if a student receives poor grades? Is there schooling for
handicapped or mentally challenged kids? If not, what do they do to learn
3. Do they have computers, calculators to use in class?
4. Do they have textbooks they use? What kind of math are 7th graders there
working on?
5. What U.S. product is the most desired by kids you meet?
6. If you go to an orphanage...what conditions does a child go there?
Do they have "foster homes"
7. Are unwanted babies put in orphanages?
8. How do kids feel about the idea of one family, 1 child?

Religion
1. How old is the oldest monastery in China?
2. How is it decided who will go live at the monastery?
3. Do the kids who go there, stay there for life?
4. How does the monastery support itself and feed the people there - donations?

Industry
1. How many hours a day does a factory worker work and how much do they
get paid (U.S. money) for a day's work?
2. What is involved in "clam harvesting"? Can just anyone start a
business and get into it?
3. What is involved in duck egg preservation? Are they decorated?
Do they not have chickens? Are these highly prized? How much do they cost
(U.S.dollars)?
4. How many hours a day does a rice worker put in and how much do they
get paid a day (U.S. money)?
5. When you see river traffic, how are there enough fish for everyone there
to live off of?
6. Are there river "patrol" cops who make sure no one runs into anyone
else and follows rules? Are there any rules for boat traffic?
