Virtual Sumatra

This is the second set of  letters from students on a hiking trip through the rainforest in Sumatra.

"I have learned to look at things twice before you say anything because we always complain about. I also realized that I was never so scared of bugs. Did you know bug repelant doesn't work? Anyhow, I am having fun." (Alana) [This message was incomplete in the first FAX we received. Here is the whole message from Alana - Patti]

"It's been really fun but hiking is so tiring. I don't know if I can make it to our hike tomorrow, but I've enjoyed everything I've seen so far and all the tubing and swimming has been the best. The bathrooms are disgusting
but other than that everything is okay." (Jessica)

"Today we went tubing, it was real fun. We saw 10+ orangutans, with babies. We got a taste of hiking which we are going to do tomorrow. Today is the 21st, the first thing after breakfast all of our group went tubing! We
were doing fine, then I lost my sunglasses to the current. Then I flipped over and out of my tub. From then on I had to share a tube with Mr. Cason. I do have to say we balanced it pretty well." (Daisy Love to D,D,J,S!)

"It is worth the pain," (Dan)

"I am having a really great time here in Sumatra. I enjoy being away from home. Tubing is really cool. I hope that the weather cools down." (Sanag...--sorry, the rest was cut off)

"Jungle Trek, Jungle Trek, in Bukit Lawang See the monkeys, see the birds, see the orangutan" (Sung to the tune of Jingle Bells--Mike Gordon)

"The river water is low this year but we still had fun swimming in the rapids. After tubing we al jumped on the local bus along with all the tubes. The locals did not seem to mind. Old fashioned air bags." (Dr. D.)
