Janssons temptation (vegetarian)
Jansson's temptation is served in Sweden on the smörgåsbord, which
is a Swedish type of buffet. It is also served as a lunch dish or at the end of
an evening party. But it is most common to have it at Christmas.
Ingredients:
2 onions
8 medium-sized potatoes
125 g Tartex (vegetarian paste)
1 teaspoon thyme
2.5 dl cream
2 tablespoons bread crumbs
Instructions:
Peel the onions and slice them thinly. Peel the potatoes and cut them
into match stick lengths. Butter an oven-proof dish. Put in half the potatoes,
then the onions, Tartex and thyme. Cover with the rest of the potatoes, the
bread crumbs and the cream. Bake in a 200°C oven, until the potatoes are
nicely brown and tender.
