Kailbi ( Short Ribs )

My name is Susan Caldwell. I am 11 years old and I attend at Manoa Elementary School. My recipe is called is called Kailbi (if not short ribs).

Ingredients

5 pound short ribs
1 cup of soy sauce
1 cup of water
5 tablespoon of ground garlic
2 tablespoon of ground ginger
1/2 cup of sugar
1 tablespoon of sesame oil
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1/8 teaspoon of ajinomoto

Directions~

Wash the short ribs then, let the water out, getting a basket and leave it alone. Wait for about 30 minutes, while waiting you should make the sauce now. Find a big enough bowl to put in the short ribs. But do not put in the short ribs in yet! Now put all the ingredients in the bowl except for the short ribs!!! Mix all the ingredients, mix until the sugar is evaporated but you must use your hands! Now, put the short ribs in the bowl with the sauce. Let the short ribs soak into the sauce. Leave there for at least twelve hours.

Culture Background ~ Kailbi comes from Korea. Kailbi is not usually eaten in Korea many times because it is very expensive. This recipe is special to me because my mom makes it for especially for me. This not connected to any tradition or celebration. Kailbi taste sweet and soft.
