Microwave Mochi

My name is Lance Yahiku and I am a 6th grader at Manoa Elementary School. I am 11 years old and I live in Hawaii.

My recipe is called "Microwave Mochi" and it is a recipe from Japan.

Ingredients ~

2 cups Mochiko
2 cups milk or water
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 can "an" (black sugar)
1 package Kinako

Directions ~

Stir and add food coloring (red or green). Grease fluted microwave pan with Pam (cooking spray) and then pour mixture into the pan. Cook on high for 9 minutes. If using water for 8 1/2 minutes. Slice on thick side for a Mochi. Pat and make round and place an in the center and use cornstarch. If you are making Chi-Chi mochi, slice thinner and cut again in half and roll in Kinako or cornstarch.

Summary ~

My recipe is called Microwave Mochi. I think this dish is from Japan. But, we eat Mochi in Hawaii any time of the year. People sometimes use it as a custom or heritage, like for Girl's Day, Childrens' Day or Boy's Day. People can also use it as a snack. My mom got this recipe from a friend.
