Sunday was the worst day of my life, because I woke up to realize I had been cursed. Someone put a math curse on me that day! Everything I did or see struck me as a math problem. Everything. Math, math, math!
That was the only thing in my mind.
Even when I woke up, I had a math problem. I woke up on Sunday at 8:45 a.m., but I got up at 9:08 a.m. I wondered, how many precious seconds did I waste, form the time I woke up to the time I got up, when I could have been doing something useful?
Dad was yelling at me. He says he wants to leave for the store at 9:30. I got up at 9:08, wasted ten minutes, brushed my teeth for 2 minutes, got dressed in one minute, and ate breakfast for ten minutes.
Will we be able to leave on time, or will my dad have to explode?
For breakfast, I ate cereal. I estimated that there were 1,000 flakes of cereal left in the bag. I poured out 1/5 of that. About how many flakes did I pour out?
Finally, after my slow eating, we were ready to leave. My dad didn't realize his hair looked wild until he saw himself in the car window, when he was opening the door. There were eight bunches of about 100 hairs sticking up. I wondered, how many hairs were sticking up?
After my dad had smoothed his hair with a lot of water, we were finally going.
Our first stop that morning was CompUSA. That is about 15 miles away from our home. Dad was driving at an average of about 50 miles per hour. On the way, he stopped at two red lights, stopping for a total of 30 seconds. How long did it take us to arrive at CompUSA?
After returning something at CompUSA, I remembered my piano teacher told me yesterday she wanted me to copy pages 52-73 of a music book.
Each page has six lines. I sat wondering in the car seat, how many lines in all do I have to copy?
My dad was copying the pages in my music book at Office Max. Copying one page takes 6 seconds for self-service, that is, with me helping him push the buttons. I wondered, how long will it take to copy pages 52-73?
Dad copied 22 pages of my music book for me at Office Max. To copy one page self-service is 5 cents. I wondered, how much will cost to copy 22 pages?
After we finished copying the pages, we went to Wal-Mart. At Wal-Mart, we bought two pairs of shoes for $12.97 and $14.97, an alarm clock for $7.42, and a jacket for $24.96. There was also $4.98 tax. My mom paid the cashier $65.30. Then a problem came to my mind at the cashier.
What was the change?
Our next stop was at Fiesta. At Fiesta, we bought mango juice for $1.59, yogurt for $1.99, 1 item for $2.29, 1 item for $3.25, apples for $1.25, oranges for $1.00, 2 items each $1.09, 2 items each $0.69, pepper for $0.31, eggs for $1.29, bacon for $5.99, and 1 item for $2.29. There was a 13 cents tax. My mom payed the cashier $25. As I stood next to my mom, who was paying the cashier, I wondered, what was the change?
Finally we finished our shopping. At home, while my mother was cooking lunch, I wondered how much money we spent today. I took out the receipts, and took a look. We spent $65.30 at Wal-Mart, $24.94 at Fiesta, $20.04 at My Thanh (a Asian grocery store), and $8.51 at Office Max. Hmmmmm. How much money did we spend today? Here is a hint: a lot!
Just then, another problem came into my mind. We had let at 10:02AM to shop. We arrived at home at 1:05PM. How long were we gone?
My mother came into the living with lunch just then. After I had finished the delicious lunch, and feeling full and satisfied, I wondered how long I had spent on eating. Let's see. I began eating at 1:27 PM.
Now it was 1:58 PM. How much time was spent on eating?
After lunch, I decided to relax on the couch, and read a good book. I wanted to read 27 pages of the book, and it takes me 53 seconds to read one page. I wondered, how l long will it take me to read how much I wanted to read?
After I finished reading, I remembered I needed to play the piano. My piano teacher wanted me to play a Hanon exercise three different times: slow, Moderate, and as fast as I can. The piece has 29 measures. How many measures would I be playing?
After I played it what I thought was enough, I wondered if I really practiced enough. My piano teacher prefers her students to play at least 50 minutes everyday. I had practiced Hanon for 18 minutes, Knight Ruppert for 33 minutes, and a sonata for 29 minutes. Did I practice enough?
I decided to listen to a cassette tape next. There were five songs on each side of the tape, each song about 3 minutes long. Then a problem sprang into my mind. If I were to listen to the whole tape twice, about how long would it be before I finish listening?
Soon it was time to cook supper. We had rice for dinner. My mom poured 4 cups of uncooked rice into the pot. As I stood watching her, I wondered: How many quarts is that? Pints? How about gallons?
We also had beans for dinner. Since I had nothing else to do, my mom said I could break up the long beans. As I was doing that, more math problems came into my mind. My mom wanted each long bean broken up into 2 inch long pieces. There were 20 pieces of 15 inch long beans, and 4 pieces of 5 inch long beans. How many 2 inch long beans did I end up with?
My dad wants me to go to bead at nine. It is 8:29 PM. I takes me 5 minutes to brush my teeth and wash my face, 14 minutes for me to take a shower, and I also waste 6 minutes. I wondered, will I be able to go to bed by nine?
While I was brushing my teeth, my father remarked that my math skills were really improving, and I was really thinking now about math. I guess there is always some advantages in something as bad as a math curse, right? Just then, another math problem came into my mind.....

Today when I woke up I was math cursed. It all started when I woke up.
For breakfast I eat 1 and a half pancakes out of 2 pancakes. I wonder how many pancakes do I have left? Then I decide to read. I read 12 pages in 10 minutes. I wonder how many pages will I read if I read for 30 minutes? Then itsí time for my kickball game. I catch 3 pop ups i the first three innings and 4 pop ups in the last the innings. I wonder how many pop ups did I catch in all? Then I watch a 2 hour movie and a 1 hour and 27 minute movie. I wonder how many hours of T. V. have I watched? For lunch I eat a sub sandwich with 2 pieces of meat, 2 pieces of cheese, and three pieces of lettuce. I wonder how many thing in all do I have on my sub sandwich? Then I go outside and swing. I swing for about 20 minutes. I swing 30 times back and forth in 20 minutes. I wonder how many times will I swing back and forth in 40 minutes? Then we decide to go play miniature golf, I get a total of 28 on the first 10 holes and a total of 23 on the last 8 holes. I wonder what is my total for all 18 holes? Then we go out to eat at Wendys. I wonder if the total sum of the bill is $ 6.48 and we ordered 5 hamburgers and 1 order of fries about how much does each item cost? When we get home it is time for bed, right now it is 10:34. I wonder how many hours of sleep will I get if I wake up at 8:34? Then I start to dream and that's when the real trouble started.

This Morning I woke up to find an uncontrollable urge to think of everything as a math problem! When I went to get dressed and found that it took me 21 minutes to get dressed. It made me wonder,how long would it take me total to get dressed in a week?
Well here I am eating breakfast. Every morning I have half a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast (including this one) which made me think, how many packets would it take,if I had half a packet every morning,for me to have them through the month of October?
After I finished getting ready me and my family went to church.
During church I read for 45 minutes.If I read every Sunday for 45 minutes for the rest of this month,how many minutes would I read?
When we got home from church my dad went to get us some lunch. While he was gone I decided to practice my piano,so here I am! I play 4 songs. I play 2 songs 4 times,one song 5 times,and one song 1 time.
How many times do I play total I wonder?
Well my dad just walked in and he has food for him, me ,and my brother. The total of the meal is $10.71. If I were to split the cost equally among three people,I wonder how much each person's meal be?
After lunch I took my dog on a walk. We go on a rout that is 7 blocks. I went on my rout 3 times. How many blocks is that?
After the walk, I reviewed 3 tricks with my dog 3 times each. How many times did we do tricks total, I wonder?
Then I collected nature things to decorate for fall with. I collected 9 pecans,7 acorns 10 leaves,and 3 flowers. How much stuff did I collect I wondered?
Now, my dad is taking me to get a snow cone and a movie.
At home I watched the movie which was 1 hour and 23 minutes. I wonder how long it would take me to watch the movie 4 times straight?
Then I went out to eat with 3 friends. The my-age friend and I watch got nachos, water,and sprite. Supposing the water was free, the sprite was a dollar,and the nachos were 3 dollars, I wonder what the total of the two of meals together would be?
Well,now I half to go to bed,so good night,sleep tight, and don't let the math bugs bite!

This morning I woke up to find something horrible...... I had been cursed, and the worst kind of curse, too. A math curse!
It began after breakfast. It was 9:47 AM. If I begin doing my hair, brushing my teeth, washing my face, making my bed and getting dressed at this time, will I be ready by 10:15? Well, if I spend four minutes on my hair, three minutes brushing my teeth, two minutes making my bed, and three minutes getting dressed plus ten minutes checking myself in the mirror and two minutes picking out my clothes, will I be ready on time?
If not, how long will my Dad have to yell until I am ready?
My father did not rush me to leave to help him look at appliances, I now have a day at home, bored. I finally thought of an idea. I can rollerblade! I began rollerblading at 10: 27. I stopped at 11:13. I need to know how long I rollerbladed for so that I can put it on my rollerblading chart. Oh boy. Now I have to do more math to figure it out. Is only rollerblading for this amount of time, is it really worth now being grounded for a week for rollerblading inside? After rollerblading I watched TV with my sisters. We are allotted 1 hour during the week and 2 hours on Sunday and Saturday, a total of 4 hours. I want to watch one 30 minute show, one hour special, then I want to watch another show that is a 2 hour show, but it does not come on for another hour. My sisters have 2 30 minute shows that are on before my 2 hour special. My mother has allotted us 1 extra hour of television because one show is on the Discovery channel and it is educational and we did all of our chores all week without being reminded once. I need to figure out with 1 extra hour plus our normal 2 hours, how many days of the next week can we not watch TV since the sum of the amount of time all our shows will take is more than three hours, I need to figure out how many days of the week, with one hour per day, we cannot watch TV.
After my television blow-out it is time for lunch. I go to the kitchen because I want to thank my Mom for the extra hour and so I go and begin making sandwiches. My mother is sitting at the table trying to write our grocery list. Right now she is trying to figure out how much lunch meat to buy for the next seven days. If my father eats 3 and a half ounces of meat in his sandwich. My mom eats 2 and a half ounces of meat and me and my sisters eat 1 and a half ounces of meat. If I have two sisters, how many ounces will we eat in seven days of lunches?
Finally, the day is over. I pull back my covers and climb into bed.
Finally, I think my math curse is over when my Mom calls to me and my sisters, "How much are school lunches? I have $2.60, how much do I need to borrow, Ava?"

1. Today we went shopping for shoes I wanted shoes that were $65.95 but
my parents wanted shoes that were $45.95 but were worth $100.00 so
100+46+66=212 does that mean I get shoes that cost $212.00 ?
2. Then we went grocery shopping to Randalls, my mom told me to get some
bread and milk the Randalls milk was cheeper than the other brand so I
just got the Randalls type, because there was no difference then I went
to the bread section the Iron Kids bread was cheeper than the Randalls
brand so I got the Iron Kid s bread my total was $2.03 but if I was crazy
and chose the expensive kind I would have paid $4.01.
3.Then it was time for dinner I wanted spaghetti but my sister wanted
pizza and since my sister is spoiled we had pizza, I got two slices of
pizza and my sister got three that was not fair so I had two the next
day is that ok?
4.Then it was time for bed I didn't know if I should wear my P.J.s with
squares or with triangles so to make it fare I counted the shapes and
which ever one had more shapes I would wear to sleep.The one with the
triangles had 16 and the other one had 24
so I wore the squares or maybe I should ware the triangle, because it
has less am I crazy or do I just have the math curse?!?!
5.When I was about to go to sleep I got thirsty, water was good but
orange juice had more vitamins and I liked it better so I decided I
would get the or orange juice but there was only 1 carton of orange
juice but we had 4 jugs of water so my parents would not notice I had
water.
6.I could not sleep, so I started "counting sheep" three went over but
one was scared so I was wondering if one does not go over is that three
sheep or four?

I wake up in the morning and go to H.E.B. I wonder if there are 200
cars in a parking lot. Each row has 20 cars. How many rows of cars are
there?
We get back from H.E.B. at 10:00 a.m..I ask my dad when the
Simpsons will be on.He says they will come on at 7:00 p.m..How much time
is there till the Simpsons come on?
Oscar is at my house.It is 10:00 and Oscar has to
leave at 11:30.How many more seconds will Oscar be able to stay at my
house?
We start to play Nintendo.He scores 1 point and I score 12
times as much as he does.How many points do I score?We finish playing
the game and I win.I score 15 points and win by 14. How many points does
Oscar score?
After that we go to the park.It is 4 blocks to the park.How many
blocks does it take us to go to the park and come back?
After that Oscar's mom picks him up at my house.Right after that
I eat lunch. I wonder if I have 360 calories for lunch and twice as much
for dinner.how many calories do I have in all?
I'm so full after I eat lunch that I watch a t.v. show for 30
minutes and watch the cowboys game for 3 hours.For how many minutes did
I watch t.v.? During the game the cowboys gained 89 yards per quarter.In
3 quarters how many yards did they gain?
After the game my friend from down the street asked me to play at
4:00.I stayed for an hour and a half.What time did I come back to my
house?
Next I took a shower.It took me 15 min. to take a shower.It
usually takes me 10 min., but I wanted to clean myself extra good.For
how many seconds did I take a shower for?
Next I ate dinneR, but I was to busy eating all the food to think
of a math problem.
Next I played baseball with my sister.I scored 10 points and she
scored 5.If she would have scored 5 times as much, how many points would
she beat me by?
Next I listened to my radio for 14 minutes. I listened to 2 songs
out of that time. How many minutes was 1 song and how many minutes was
the other song that I listened to?
Next I went to bed thinking if a centipede had 1,000 legs and a
millipede had 27 times as much, how many legs would a millipede have?
My Math Curse

I wake up I find myself looking everything as ... a math problem .It is
6:33 when I wake up . T.V shows I like start at 7 o clock.I wondered how
many more minutes did I have to wait to enjoy T.V.?
Well, to make time short I went to sleep again.It was 7 soon and I
could go to my couch to watch T.V. I lay on the couch and notice that I
am longer than the couch. Then I wonder how many inches longer I am than
the couch. I measure the couch it is 48 inches long .I am 54 and one
half. I thought for a bit got the answer and calmly watched T.V.
I watch T.V. calmly. Then when I am done watching T.V. knowing the
curse will attack again I walk down the hall to my room. I turn my head
and see my mom's clock . Then I wonder. If it is 8:35 and my mom is
asleep and I woke at 6:33 . I wonder how much time has my mom been
asleep since I awoke?
I go to my room and play my mom wakes up makes breakfast and calls me
to eat.
Then as I put tomatoes on my hot dog I noticed I got 8 pieces of
tomatoes per scoop. If I want 25 pieces on my hot dog how many scoop do
I need?As I eat I find the answer then go to my room.
Then my mom calls me to take out the trash. I walk outside put the
trash in the dump and walk back in . But as I walked back I saw 10
parked cars in that lot.I see one leave then wonder. How many wheels
were in the lot?
The hours past wondering why the curse didn't strike.Relieved I walked
to the kitchen for my brothers party.I see cake!!!! I start eating then
I noticed the cake was cute into 16 slices .I also noticed my mom ate
one piece my dad two my big brother three my small brother one and me
one. I wondered how much of the cake did we written as a fraction?
Then I remembered I had to pull weeds of my plants at my garden.There
were 5 rows .Each row 7 feet long. I thought how many inches of weeds
did I have to pull ?
I went home and thought. That day I watched 3 hours 30 min. of T.V. If
the shows were 30 min. long . I wondered how man shows I watched?
Going to sleep I saw more and more like a problem. The wheels on the,
chair the papers on my desk, poles on my bed. Suddenly I heard a boom.I
knew it was over It had blown away . But then I heard my brother saying
If there are 15 teeth on my lower jaw and 15 on my other jaw how many
teeth did I brush?

Time to get up , it was my mother's gentle voice. Got to get ready
for your violin class. I wondered what time it was so I looked at the
clock it was 8:30 and I knew I had to be there at 9:00. If My mother
woke me up at 8:30 and It took 10 minutes to get to the music building
and I had to be there by 9:00 How long do I have to get ready?
I rapidly ran out of the car when we finally reached the music
building and ran into the classroom. There are 9 people in the class 8
of them are girls how many of them are boys?
Before lesson started the teacher asked us to take out our pencils and
start copying of the board. But then Sarah raised her hand and said she
didnât have a pencil. If there are 9 people and 2 of them need pencils
and 1 person's pencil doesn't work then how many pencils are in the
class that do work?
After the teacher lend the people some of his pencils he asked us to
start writing our own songs to play on our different instruments and
then told us to write how much each note equaled. If an eighth note
equals half a beat Then how many beats would I play if I played 8 eighth
notes?
Just then one girl entered and pulled out a chair to sit on and to
then start working. If there are 28 chairs and 11 people are sitting in
chairs then how many empty chairs are if the class?
After we finished our songs the teacher wrote his own song on the board
then asked us to play it on our instruments while he played it on the
piano. There are 26 measures in the teachers song. I played is of the
measures now how many measures are there left for me to play?
After class was over I ran to the elevator get to the 5th floor. If we
are on the 3rd floor and need to get to the 5th floor and there are no
in-between extra floors then how many floors do we have to go up?
I entered my next class on the 5th floor and looked around. There are
8 kids and 1 teacher and each child has a violin with 4 strings. Then
how many are in all?
Then the teacher asked us all to try to share a song piece for the
violin to play all equally. There are 42 notes. And there 6 kids in all
. How many notes should they each play if they need to share the piece
equally?
After my second violin class my mother picked me up and took me to a
store to by a picture for her friend. The picture with a frame cost
$50.00 and the picture cost $20.00 . How much did the frame cost by
itself?
After my Mother bought the frame she wanted she remembered that we
had to go to her friends Good Bye Party.And we also had to flee to the
library to turn in some books. So then she decided well we can stop by
the library on our way home . Then she had me gather up all the books
which were due and keep all the ones that weren't. There are 11 books
in all 3 of them are due October 4th The rest are not due till October
24. How many books are not due October 4th?
After dropping off the books at the library my Mother drove home so we
could get ready for the party. After I was dressed my Mother asked me to
put on my shoes. I wanted to wear a new pair of shoes that I hadn't worn
recently. I have 7 pairs of shoes and today I wore 3 pairs. How many
pairs of shoes have I not worn?
We then rode to the building where the party would be held. When we got
inside the party room every body had started eating.The people who were
holding the party came over to us and Welcomed us. They then led us to a
section of the room where there were tables piled high with food. There
are 8 tables in all and 6 tables have food on them. How many tables do
not have food on them?
I slid to another table and decided to take a croissant from the
pack laid out on the second table. There are 36 croissants in one pack
and 4 are left in the box. If each person ate 1 croissant , how many
people ate a croissant ?
After I poured a couple of other tasty treats in my plate i slid down
to the table which the drinks were on. There are about 40 people and
each person wants 1 drink. There are 4 coke bottles and each can fit
about 11 cups. How many cups would each person get and how many would be
left over?
After everybody finished up eating we ll went into a room with
chalkboards , for us to draw on. There are 6 chalkboards and there are
10 kids. Each kid wants to draw on the chalkboards. So each kid has to
split up the chalkboards equally. If they split up each chalkboard into
how many sections will hey need to split the chalkboards into?
My friend and I decided to share a chalkboard and play hangman. A
saying in hangman has 30 letters. My friend missed 5 letters the rest of
them she guessed. How many letters has she guessed?
Then it was time to go home. We all rode in the car and were silent
all the way home. When we reached our house, we all sleepy climbed out
of the car . Then we climbed the steps to our house. There are 19 steps
in all I climbed half of the steps. How many steps did I climb?
Finally when we reached home we all got ready for bed. Then flung
ourselves on to our beds. My mind was very tired from being Math Cursed
and I just wanted to sleep. Then I heard my brother talking to my older
brother. I have to go to School tomorrow . And have to be there by
7:45. Then you have to be at school at 8:10. How many minutes are our
times apart?
Then I knew I wasn't the only one. It was a disease.

On Sunday I woke up, I ate 2 toaster struddels and a banana. Then I
realize I was math cursed.
Then I went to tennis camp. At tennis camp, there are 6 coaches. Each
coach has 5 kids. How many kids are there, I thought to my self .
There are 6 ball hoppers and 345 tennis balls how many tennis balls in
each hopper. I thought it was bad , I knew nothing.
A few hour's later I went to a race to watch my friend Robert. Robert
entered a race he swam 1 1/2 miles, he biked 56 miles, he ran 12 1/2
miles. How many miles did he race in all?
After the race I pick up my friend Leo and we entered a race.Then I
thought to my self. Andrew and Leo entered a race they swam 100,000
yards Leo swam 395 yards how many did Andrew swim?
After the race I went home and played with my Hot Wheels. I thought
that the curse was over. Then suddenly, I thought to my self, "I have 5
blue Hot Wheels, 6 red, 51 striped, 19 green, 2 purple, and 17 special
cars. How many cars in all?" Then I went to bed .

I woke up at 8:30 am on Sunday and fond myself unable able to get my
mind off math.The only thing I could guess my problem to be was the
horrible Math Curse!!!
I had 20 minutes to get ready for church in the morning. If church
starts at 9:15 and it takes me 5 minutes to take a shower, 3 minutes to
get dressed, 5 minutes to dry my hair, 1 minute and 15 seconds to brush
my teeth, and 10 minutes to get there, will I make it to church on time?
Yesterday was my birthday and I wanted to take donuts to church to
celebrate. There are usually 21 kids in my Bible study. So I bought two
dozen donuts to take to church. Today we have 7 visitors. How many kids
won't get donuts? What should I do?
Today me and my mom went to the pool to swim. We got there at 1
o'clock. I want to leave at 2 o'clock and my mom wants to leave at 3
o'clock. 1 plus 2 plus 3 is 6. Does that mean we leave at 6? What is
200,000,052,156 divided by 5?
Well, we compromised and left at 2:30. Then we went to the mall. I
bought a pair of shoes that cost $49. 95. My mom bought a purse that
cost $19.99,a bottle of soap that cost $9.95, a dress that cost $22. 95,
and a blouse that cost $15.99. When we took to the register to pay,
cashier told us it was broken. We had to add up the price in our heads.
I thought... $49.95 plus $19.99 plus $9.99 plus $22.95 plus 15.99
is....What is that?
We finally figured out the total and my mom dropped me off at my dad's
house and then went home exhausted. My dad started dinner right when I
got home. At dinner we had fish, corn, and potatoes. We had 3 of each
item. So each person got one of each. It was my turn to set the table. I
put a fork, a knife,and a plate in front of each chair (three chairs
total). so 3 utensils multiplied by 3 chairs is 9 untensils. When dinner
was ready, my brother sat down immediately and started to eat his corn.
If there were 96 kernels of corn on the cob and my brother took 8 bites
( he has a big mouth) how many kernals were in each bite? How many were
left over/
After dinner I turned on the TV and switched the channel to 36. If the
channel was on 18 that would mean I would have to push the channel up
button 3 times until the channel was on 36. Anyway, there was a movie on
that looked pretty good so I decided to watch it. the movie lasted
exactly 2 hours. It started 8 o'clock and ended at 10 o'clock.If I had
to go to bed at 9 o'clock how much of the movie would I get to watch?
How much of the movie would I have to miss?
The movie hit it's half way point at 9 o'clock, so it was time for me
to go to bed. I pulled down the covers on my bed and jumped onto the
mattress. I lied down and started to think about my day and about how
this math curse had turned my day into a wonderful world of wonder. Can
you say that 3 times fast?...A wonderful world of wonder... A wonderful
world of wonder... A wonderful world of wonder...

Sunday was a fun day. The first time a friend came to play since I
came to Austin.
Sunday I go to church (Not the day that we sleep late in the morning)We
start getting ready at 8:55. I took 10 minute to get ready my sister
took 10 minute too. My mom took 20 minute.So we all took 30 minutes. The
church starting was 9:30. We had to find the car and it took minute. We
had to take 10 minute going, 3 minute finding the parking place (We were
late). What happen next? How much did we get late?
We got late and miss starting fun part. In church I sat with my sister
and my friend Ashley in the front seat. My mom and dad sat in the back
seat. If my sister and Ashley sat in the first seat and my mom and dad
sat in the 16th seat. how much seats far were we? We were far enough
that we could not see each other.
I stayed at the kids bible study room from 9:40 to 10:35.How many
minutes did I stay in kids bible study room? While my sister and Ashley
me were sitting together in the sanctuary we brought 3 folders 3
crystal toy 2 puzzle 1 doll 3 books. How much toys and books did we
bring to play with from the toy basket? We almost brought all the toys.
After church my sister went to her friends house with her other friend
(1 year young) . And the girl who were going with my sister called her
little brother to go with her. My sisters friend Mi Suks mom gave out
balloons.There was 31 balloons in the hole bag.And there were 6 kids (me
and Mi Suks' sister). Mi Suks' mom wanted to give all them out so nobody
will fight.She gave out 5 each and 1 was left. She thought how to do
with the left 1. Then one kid said "Mine has a hole."
For today's meal we had ham sandwiches. My mom had 2 ham slices in
her sandwich, 4 for me ( I had 2 more, I like ham) 2 for Ashley(my
friend). How many ham slices did we eat?
And then me and Ashley was eating rice, then she asked for sugar and
cinnamon. And then I remembered that she ate with pepper and salt
yesterday.( she and her family came for dinner yesterday night.) How
many different ways are there to eat? But it would not really taste
good.
My mom does not really like Friday folders.So she had to read and
sign a whole lot because she did not do it until now. In my folder I had
11 papers to see. My sister's folder had 29 papers .But there are 7
papers that are same, so she just has to read
one and sign the same thing, but not of the name and different things.
And there was 3 papers that are the same thing that we brought last
week. How may papers does my mom have to read? She might have to read
all night if my dad doesn't help.
I was thinking about a math problem looking at the door. Then I
thought of a math problem I can make. How many doors are in our house.
There is the door for my room, my parents room, the bathroom, the main
door and the closet door. How many doors are in our house?
After that I was thinking what I had to do. And a minute later I
thought about piano practice. I have to play 55 minutes but I had to
play more because I didn't play very much yesterday. My mom told me to
play half of what I have to play the other days. How many hours and
minutes do I have to play?
I was laying down and trying not to think about the math curse. But
then I thought about a different problem. I have 3 other people in my
family. My sister's toe wiggled. How many toe and fingers are in our
family?

My mom woke me up at 7:45, I didnât get out of bed until 8:19.
How long did it take me to get out of bed? About 5 minutes later I
thought if 7 people live in my house, 3 out of those 7 people are awake.
How many arms are awake?
For breakfast I ate my cereal. I poured 236 little corn flakes, I ate
22 corn flakes on my first scoop and 17 on my second scoop. How many
corn flakes did were left in the bowl after the second scoop? later I
decide to watch the Rugrats it lasts 30 minutes. if 15 percent of the
show is commercials, how long (in minutes) are the commercials?
On my way to Houston It took us 3 hours and 30 minutes to get there. I
slept for 75 percent of the way how long (in minutes) did I sleep? In
the way we find a bakery
we buy 15 doughnuts For a snack, there are 7 people in my family if we
divided the doughnuts equally how much will each person get?
At the Imax theater in Houston our family split up to take seats. My
brother and I went to the front row, than the rest of the family ( my
mom, dad, two aunts, and my grandma) sat five rows behind us. A family
of four people were sitting right by us on the right side and they were
on the edge of the row. my dad and mom were sitting straight behind us
on the left of the family if there were 17 seats in each row how many
seats were by us (on the left side) if you counted the seats by my
family and the seats by my brother and my?
Were going back to Austin we take a new root there are 143 miles
between Houston and Austin in that root. If we are going about 65 mph.
(miles per hour) how long is it going to take us to get home? Once we
got home my brother and I played on a computer game called
CyberGladiators. I won 11 round and Julio (my brother) won? If each
round was three battles long how many battles did my brother and I won
all together?If my computer has 1158 megabytes and installed a game
which took up 38 megabytes, how many megabytes do those my computer have
now?
Later in the evening Keyon, our friend, asked us to go outside to play
catch. The rule of the game was that if you dropped the ball 3 times you
were out. If my brother got out in his sixth try of hitting the ball,
and according to the order of me to Keyon, Keyon, to Julio how many
tries did me and Keyon, get until Julio got out? About half an hour
after w played catch, my brother and I played a game of chess. there are
16 pieces on each side. At the end of the game I have 5 pieces left and
he has 8. How many pieces do we have all together?
When I was reading Malcolm X I read a chapter. In that chapter there
were 33 pages in each page I found about 4 paragraphs. About how many
paragraphs were in the chapter?

Hi, my name is Neri Flores III I'm going to tell you about my wild and
crazy day. When I woke up this morning I saw it was 5:07 in the
morning!!What was I doing up I don't get up until 7:19. How long did I
sleep?
So I climb into bed ,and I try to go back to sleep but I keep having a dream about something called a Math Curse. I woke up two minutes later screaming my head off because I was so tired. I got up, looked in the box of Life and there is only 18oz. of the 40oz. I ate 18oz. How much more is there in the box? Then I had to get ready for my game when I noticed my ball was only 12oz. I asked myself "How many times do I have to pump up my ball to be 32oz.?" At my game I kicked the ball 20 times and scored 3 times. How many times did I miss?
After the game was through I got dressed. I wondered if I have 6 shirts
and 18 pears of pants how many combinations can I make? Then I went
and saw Xena Warrior Princess which is 1 hour long and I a movie called
"George of the Jungle" which was 3 1/2 hours. How many minutes of
television did I watch? Then I got a phone call from my coach, Chris,
Nick, and Todd. They all talked for the same time and they took hour and
40 minutes. How long of them talk?
Then I had to help my mom cook supper. She wanted me to cook some
meatloaf. I had to get 2.5 cups of flour, and 4 cups of crushed crackers. How many cups did I have to get? Then after we finished with dinner, I called my aunt 6 times and called my sister 10 times. How many more times did I call my aunt than my sister?
Then after supper, my mom said," Time to get ready for bed!" My sister and I screamed,"NO!Not that! Anything but that!!!!!!" My mom said "Yes, Sasha you go first." Sasha said "I'm All First. I was first 2days last
week, 7day last month and all last week." How many times did Sasha Go
first?
After we took our bath, we brushed our teeth. i wondered if I brush
each of my 32 teeth 28 times How many times will I brush all together?

Science Curse, English Curse, Socail Studies Curse, Computer Curse,

This morning when I was putting on my shoes and I wondered, there
are 72 bumps on the bottom of my shoes and there are 19 holes. How many
bumps and holes in all? Why was I wondering this, then I remembered my
teacher had said math was everywhere, I was cursed!!!Later that day we
went to the grocery store and thought, there are 24 Frito dip cans that
are $2 each. How much would it cost o buy them all? Then we past the
cold drinks and I wondered there are 15 gallons of green juice. How many
quarts? After we left the store I saw a soda machine! I GOT BIG RED!!
Then I wondered there are 2 cans filled with 12 ounces of big red.How
many ounces with both cans together? As we were driving home I looked
at a thermometer. It's 91 degrees and then later it changed to 84
degrees. How much did the temperature decrease? When I was sitting in
the car bored to death I remembered what time we had left the grocery.We
left at 4:07 and now it's 4:31. How much time has past? Three minutes
later I thought it's 4:34 and we'll be back at 5:45. How much longer
till we get back? My feet hurt I leaned down to take my shoes off and
there was 1 pillow, 4 bags, 1 swimsuit, 2 pairs of shoes and socks, and
4 fishing poles on the ground. How many objects are there? As we pulled
into our driveway I wondered there are 4 people in the car. How many
fingers, toes, and ears do they all have? Then I fell to sleep.

I came down stairs at 8:30 my mom told We are going to Barton springs
at 10:20. I woke up at 8:00 but I decided to sleep in a half-hour, I
usual wake up at 6:30 to get to school. I played with my brothers for
45 minutes on the couch it was fun,then I traded base ball cards with my
bothers for 35 minutes and played with my toys for 20 minutes.Do I have
enough time to get ready?
When I'm got to Barton springs I went in that could pool for 40 minutes
then I got out to see the time and walk around 1/2 the pool to see the
time .Then then I got in for 10 minutes and got out and walked 1/2
around the pooI because it was cold.Then I got in for 20 minutes and got
out because I hurt my toe and I was getting bored and walked around 6/8
of the pool.How many times did I walk around the pool all to getter?!!!
At lunch I was very hungry from swimming I ate a half of a hamburger a
half is 2/4 ,2/4 is = to 4/8 ,4/8 is = to 8/16 is = to16/32 is =to 32/64
what will be next!!! well that made me not get that hungery. The next
thing I new was we were going home.
When I get home at 1:00 I trade baseball cards with my brothers for 1
hour then then I play with my toys for 27 minutes then I did nothing for
2 hours and 35 minutes ,then I read for 1 hour . So what time is it?!!!
Well that was my math curse day!!!!!

I remembered I had a soccer game at 8:30 so I got on my clothes. It
took me 15 minutes to get dressed. How much longer do I have to get to

In the game I was assigned goalie. I saved the ball 10 times. After
halftime I scored ___ goals. If I scored less than ten and the
difference between the two numbers is 8 how many goals did I score?
What is it when you add the two numbers?
After the game we went to Mr. Gattis. I ate 10 pizzas and had ___
cokes. If the number is in between 10 how many cokes did I have? What
is the number of of the two added?
I went home after that. I watched 3 hours of T.V. and played 1 hour
of video games. How many hours of T.V. did I watch all together? What
would it be if I subtracted it?
I went to the store and bought $50.00 worth of groceries. It took us
$5.00 worth of gas to get there. What is the difference between the
two? What is it added together?
When I got home I ate dinner. There where 230 calories in my
hamburger and 270 calories in the coke. What is the difference between
the two? What is it added together?
I took a shower at 8:00. It took me 5 minutes to take the shower. I
had to be in bed by 8:30 how much longer do I have?

When I woke up I got dress it took me 2 minutes to brush my teeth, 4
minutes to get dress, 10 minutes to eat , and played a video game for
20 minutes how many minutes did it take me to get out of the door.
When we got into the car and left it took me 4 minutes to get to one
light and it took us 2 minutes to get pass the light and then it took us
15 minutes to go to the football field how long did it take me to drive
to my game.
when I got to my game it took the team four minutes to get warmed up
and ten minutes to run some plays .How long did it take us to start to
start the game.
It took took use 25 seconds to do the toss and12 minutes per quarter
plus 5 minutes in timeouts and twenty minutes in transtions how long
was the game.
Then after the gameit took use five to talk about every thing and then
we took my farther to work an then we went to the house and got our golf
clubs how long did it take us to get back to his job how long did it
take us to get the golf clubs.
Then we went to the Hancooc Golf club and then we get our tee time and
it will take 25minutes to wait and it took us 10 minutes to get their
how long did it take use to start our golf game.
When we started I shot a 4,7,6,4,3,7,5,4,3,9,6,5,4,3,6,5,4,4 what was
my final score.
Now we are at home we eat and then we play a game of ffoot ball how
long did it take us to do all those things.

1.I was standing on a table getting fitted for a dress, I had to keep my
head up, and the only thing to look at was a cigar mold.Suddenly I
realized, Oh no! This was a math problem that was really part of the
Math Curse my teacher put on me!!! There is 20 indents on an antique
Cigar mold. There is two sides to the Cigar Mold, if the indents are
divided equally on to each side, how many indents will there be on each
side?
2. I was innocently typing on my computer when suddenly it struck
me, here was another math curse!!! There is about 75 keys on a macintosh
and about 102 keys on a power pc. What is the difference in the amount
of keys?
3. Yes!! It's lunch time , and my mom is ordering pizza. Wait a minute,
donÕt tell me there is another math curse in this....... again!!! The
pizza costs $12.64 and my mom only has a twenty dollar bill to pay
with.What will her change be?
4.My two friends and I went to the pharmacy, to get a lolIpop at 11:30.
One of my friends brother told us to be back in 1 hour or he will come
and look for us. While we were walking I began to ponder, Ō This is
another one of those math curses, isnÕt itĶ.
Oh darned it is. If we left at 11;30, and we have to be back in a
hour,when do we have to be back?
5. When I get home Isit on the couch and not move or look at my watch. I
thought there could be no math curse in this condition, but boy was I wrong!! There is
3 cushions on the top of the couch and 3 on the bottom. How many
cushions in all?
6. I guess IÕll watch T.V. I turned on the television, and there was Dan
Rater telling the weather prediction for tomorrow. Oh gosh here come
another math curse!!! The low temperature is supposed to be about 61 f.
and the high about 70 F. If the prediction is right, how much will the
temperature increase?
Okay, okay, IÕve learned my lesson math is everywhere. YOU CANÕT HIDE.
My Math Curse

When I woke up I saw my crutches from when I broke my ankle,
and I started wondering, "How many crutches would it take to reach the
top of the Empire State Building if they're 4 foot 1?"
Then I started brushing my teeth, and I saw there were 13+14
teeth in the mouth of the alligator on my little brothers toothbrush on
the right side and 12+14 on the other minus 1 that got scratched out. I
didn't want to figure out exactly how many teeth were in his mouth so I
ran down the stairs. Unfortunately, there were 17 stairs and I was
taking them two at a time, so I had to take the last three at the same
time. Would it have been even if I had taken all of them three at a
time?
I then throw myself on the couch to watch cartoons. Another
alligator!?He was wiggling his toes, advertising some lotion no one
would ever use, but I started thinking how many toes are in my house if
there are 4 people here and one person has one foot outdoors?
I kept on watching to keep myself distracted, but of course my
mom turns off the TV and says,"You have been watching cartoons for 2
hours!" Of course I thought about this and figured out that if each
cartoon is half an hour long, except Doug, which is 15 minutes long, and
I watched only one of him and three normal cartoons, how many minutes
did I spend surfing the channels and watching commercials?
At breakfast I gave up resisting the math curse because my mom
gave me the treat of eating cookies and muffins for breakfast amazingly
nothing happened when I ate, so I shrugged and thought jokingly that one
cookie + 2 muffins must equal breakfast, that started the curse again.
I went back upstairs and I saw my books. I thought I must have more
than 100 and less than 200 books, and I could probably read all of them
in a month. How many would that be a day?
Well, my mom again makes trouble by saying were going to Central
Market to shop, so I went down stairs once again and started counting
the leaves on the plants by the window sill. There were too many.
It was 7:00, and I usually go to bed at nine, so I thought I
might be able to pull off going to bed early by telling my mom I was
tired. She said okay and left the cellphone number at home. I started
to drift of to sleep when I started counting sheep!!!
My Math Curse

This morning I woke up and started playing Legos. I was playing with my
Legos for one hour. I usually play for about three or four hours. I got
board . I wonder how many hours I didn't play. Then I slept for 19% of
the day. Gee I wonder how many hours I slept and played? How many hours
was I awake during that time?
After I went outside to play.I picked up 29 quartz pebbles in 30
minutes.I wondered if I picked up 1,160 more quartz pebbles how many
minutes more did I spend picking up the pebbles that I wanted? I picked
pebbles for a long time until sunset.
When I went back in from playing outside I went in my room and throw
myself on my bed and went to sleep again. When I woke up my mom said I
had slept for 3 hours and 24 minutes.I looked at my stuffed animals on
my bed and thought I have 3 animals on my bed and 5 times more in my
closet. I wonder how many stuffed animals and hours I slept during that
time?
Then I looked in my closet and only saw 3 shirts !! I was surprised I
had so little shirts left.Then I looked in the dirty clothes and found
12 dirty t-shirts and washed them . It took 30 minutes to wash them and
dry them. Now I wonder how many clean t-shirts I have now and how much
time and clean t-shirts it took and t-shirts I have in all?
After I washed my shirts I started to build a model airplane. There
is 349 pieces. It took me 45 minutes to put together and I only
worked for two hours and six minutes . Then I let it sit and dry for
about two hours.During the two hours I played outside and slept. I
slept for an hour and five minutes.I played with my Legos again for
twelve minutes.Then I went to sleep again for 58 minutes. Then I had to
go to a football game. I scored 5 touchdowns and two interceptions. The
game lasted for about an hour and a half. I wonder how many seconds it
took to do all that?
I went to the bank with my mom to deposit some money. I asked my mom
if I could deposit some money to my savings account. She said yes so I
did. I deposeded $63.35 in pennies . It took a long time to count them .
I counted them for about 25 minutes. I waited for the people to deposit
my money and they took a long time. They took about 15 minutes. I
wonder how many seconds and pennies , the time I spent at the bank and
how many pennies in all?
My team scored 4 touchdowns playing football. I scored 3 more. We have
7 touchdowns.
I'm packing my backpack. I put in a binder and 2 books, then I
took 1 out . I have a binder and a book left.
I am going to sleep . When I wake up I am going to wonder how many
minutes, seconds, and hours I slept?
Good night, I'm going to sleep.
