*********************** PURPOSE..PHILOSOPHY..OUTCOMES
PURPOSE..PHILOSOPHY
1. To build a respect of Gods gift of diversity by studying different
cultural environments in Macau.
2. To extend the curriculum in a real life environment and in a different
country.
3. To involve students in learning activities only possible away from their
day to day learning experiences.
4. To create a sense of community through cooperative learning activities
and sharing responsibilities with others.
5. To develop self confidence and self-discipline through a unique
learning
experience.
OUTCOMES
1. Students will develop responsibility and independence by being away from
the home setting.
2. Students will able to distinguish differences between Portuguese and Chinese
cultures.
3. Students will be able to relate a brief historical account of Macau.
4. Students will demonstrate interpersonal skills by managing their attitudes
and emotions when relating to peers and adults.
5. Students will get to know peers and faculty outside the academic experience.
6. Students will compose writings that will demonstrate their understandings
of Macaus culture.
STUDENT ASSESSMENT
Each student will be required to complete a set of Macau writings. This work
will reflect the childs week in Macau. Prior to their trip, students
will be presented with a range of specific tasks to prepare them for their
week in Macau.
Students will be given options on which tasks they will undertake and work
on while in Macau i.e. take notes, take photographs, sketch and keep journals.
Time will be given to the students to finalize these tasks during the first
week back from Macau.
