Black History Month // Black History Month - United States
by Sandra Rose

1 February

Month Long Celebration: Black History: Pivital Patches in the American Quilt. Historically, including the era of slavery, people of African-descent have played significant roles in building America. Like patches in a mosaic quilt, African Americans have made important contribution to the fabric of America. Each year, during the month of February, Black History Month is celebrated celebrated across America to acknowledge and to increase the awareness of the contributions made by African Americans to the history of America. As we proudly celebrate this American heritage, we also commemorate the contributions made by other cultural groups. It is important to honor, during the month and throughout the year, the contributions made by all groups, for each group represents the pivotal patches in crafting the quilt we call America. ac

My family and I attend and also coordinate many African American history celebrations. We visit museums sponsoring educational history, we watch cable networks sponsoring black history programs and we also learn about black folks that we did not know about last year; each year we add pieces of information.
