Independence Day
I am going to tell you about Israel national holiday, our independence day. The independence day is the day when Israel became to be a free state. Untill the 14.5.1948 Israel was under the dominion of England. At that day, the last britian left Israel. David ben-gurion,the first prime minister of Israel, declared that Israel is now a state of her own, with a government of her own. That was a very exciting day to the people that lived in Israel at these days, because it was like a dream come true. The jewish people waited a long time until that moment. A day after, the independence war began. The army of arab states attacked Israel in the target to destroy Israel. At last, Israel repulsed the arab army.
Since 1948 we celebrate our Independence day every year. Since Israel became a state, we had 5 wars and we lost many soldiers. Because of this, the day before is the Remembrance day for I.D.F (Israel defence force) soldiers. At this day there are many memorial services and there is a silent moment that in two minutes all Israel stays still for the memory of the soldiers who died in the wars.At the evening of the Remembrance day there is a sharp passage from the memory day to the celebrations of independence day. This sharp passage came to show that without the soldiers that defend Israel, we couldn't be a free country.
The independence day is a holiday in all the country. At the night there are parties in all the country. During the day after most of the people go on a picnic or go to travel in Israel. On the T.V. there are entertainment shows and Israeli movies. The Israel flag is flown In almost every house in the country. The independence day is one of happiest holidays of Israel,if it is not the happiest.
