Hi! I'm the
KIDWRITERS
Wizard. I'm
here to help you understand how to use the
Writing Studio. As you
can see, we are always (under construction gif.) But, that is good
because we are always going to change the studio by introducing new
exciting writing programs. You can always click on me
inside any KIDWRITERS
work area when you need help.
Each
icon on the screen is a doorway to a different type of writing in the
studio. So when you click on the
you
will enter an area where all types of poetry takes place. Often, we will
provide a form so that you can enter a poem or story write on the web
page. Other times you must e-mail your work. But no matter what you do,
ALL writing is posted on the kidwriters list. If you haven't yet
subscribed to the list, simply click
here and type
the words "sub kidwriters yourfirstname yourlastname" in the
message area. Subscribing to kidwriters also assumes that you have
registered with Kidlink.
KIDWRITERS
Writing Areas
As
each writing area becomes active, the icon will be linked and highlighted
on the Writing Studio main page. Here is a brief description of each
writing area you will find in the Writing Studio.
- Inside
the Poetry Corner kids can draw inspiration from themes,
pictures, other kids poems and occasionally the work of professional
poets presented in our Poet's gallery. We will always feature at least
one global poem where kids can contribute to perpetual poem on-line.
- Stories Where I Live can be based on
fact or legends or simply some of our everyday experiences associated
with where we live. So often our customs are unique and make for
fascinating stories when viewed from another culture.
- Tributes to Princess Diana and Mother Teresa
will lead REFLECTIONS. The tributes are a first step in
understanding the magic of their lives. But we hope not to stop with
simple tributes. Reflection means to take stock and look for the meaning
in the lives we examine. It is here that we will take stock of many
people from many cultures who have influenced our lives.
- Our Mysteries, Tales, Legends and Science
Fiction Corner is where you can find most of the fiction written by
kidwriters. In our first story we need YOU to help complete a science
fiction story by writing a chapter and drawing a holodeck. You'll also
find past mysteries written by KIDLINK alumni.
- Each month we will feature a different genre in
our Feature Writing Project of the Month. Through January 5,
1998, we will turn the spotlight on our
Holidays Throughout The
Year corner. Our goal is to collect holiday stories, legends and
poems from as many parts of the world as we can over the next 45 days.
Our first submission is multilingual.
- Surrounding the Feature Project are Animal
Tales and the Kidlink Theater. Send us your doggonnest tail
-- or is tale and then prepare to challenge Shakespeare and Frank Lloyd
Webber with your dramas and musicals.
- Then come join us in our NEWSROOM as our kidreporters
from around the globe begin assembling their magazine. I'm looking for
reporters in every language to report on their part of the world and
about Kidlink activities where they live. This is a multilingual effort.
We need your help.
- What is story telling without a sports story or
sports fantasy. And while your down on that field grab your
sketch pad and camera or simply bring your writing pad along as you
create stories in pictures and words inside our Picture Story Corner.
And finally, no writer is worth his or her salt unless they can't look
at both sides of a topic and raise meaningful issues that are important
to kidwriters around the globe.
