Mr. Ost has requested us to write a beginning paragraph to give our story an exciting  beginning.  He suggests that the story use flashback to tell what happened before the exciting moment..

 Remember,  the basic plot so far is that the class has gone on a Field trip to Havre de Grace to study Maryland landmarks.  One of the students will leave a backpack to float out to sea which Chessie, the sea monster, picks up and takes to Denmark.

 In the backpack is a secret formula for cleaning up oil spills.  The student who owns the back pack accidently picked up the formula instead of his/her homework at home in the morning.  You might want to include a scene where some villains managed to grab part of the formula.

 This paragraph is just  a beginning of our story in which the main character tells about how s/he got into this situation.  A sample beginning could be ......

You may use this beginning or one of your  own... Now write a paragraph that you feel would start off our story in an exciting way!.

 "Oh no!" says Jessie, "My backpack is floating out to the deep part of the Chesapeake Bay!  ..........
