Chessie the SeaserpentBack to Chessie's Mystery
Creating  a Mystery  Using:

 Collaboration across the Globe-

Using  E-mail-  We first heard about the project through an email message on the Kidlink listserv.  We also frequently had to send messages to each other using email because of the time zone difference. Denmark students were out of school before we were even awake in the morning.

Chatting on IRC with

The class in Denmark- Mrs. Schulz meets with the kids in Denmark at 6AM and shared the log with us.   Hanne in Denmark meets with us during
                our conversations with Mr. Ost.

Mr. Ost in New Hampshire - Mr. Ost meets with us at least once a week to guide us in our writing.  He encourages us to keep working on our ideas even though some people did not think they were good ideas.

Organization & Team Work - We created committees to handle different jobs.  We have regular committee meeetings and write logs of our activities each time.

Writer Committee -We are in charge of adding the ideas from the whole                          class into the one story that every one agrees with.   We also have to                        consider the ideas from the class in Denmark.
Illustrator Committee - We are in charge of  the illustrations  for the
scenes of the story which our class was writing.
Mathematicians-  We are creating the math problems that will tie into the
                story as it progresses
Researchers  - We research ideas to be sure our facts are true to the story.
For instance, we checked whether an eagle can fly across the
ocean. We also checked out  some facts on Sea Monsters, and Chessie
                in particular.
Webdesigners - We learned how to create a webpage and are responsible      for designing the one  for this mystery.
Communicators- We are responsible for writing the email messages to the students in Denmark.
